How would you tell a witness who was hiding something from a witness who didn’t see anything?

Corroborating evidence. If multiple people say "yeah Jimmy saw the entire thing", that's how you know. The lawyers can't just say "we think @savvywolf@pawb.social was there so they have to testify." Mostly because you'd make a terrible witness for the prosecution (or the defense).

No.

No. In fact I think people who refuse to testify should be held in contempt until they do. If they lie, perjury should be strictly prosecuted.

There's a guy who works as a product owner at my employer. He has a PharmD. He got fed up with the metrics for how many prescriptions he had to fill. Now he does software.

It's crazy to think that someone has a terminal degree in a really technical field and he nope'd out because of how bad it got.

Somehow I can never seem to forget my ICQ number. 28493804. I have no idea why that's always in my brain, but it is.

There is Safari, which uses a different rendering engine, but yeah, there's basically 3 browsers. Chromium, Safari, and Firefox.

I don't use Safari and never have, so I can't speak to its compatibility or quirks for the user or for developers.

Just missed my ICQ account which was about 27ish years old. Ok it wasn't in frequent use.

My gmail account has been in continuous use since 2009, although I use it less now that I used to.

This is really important for non-Americans to understand. Yeah there are waits to see specialists and so forth in countries with a public system. We also have waits...but it's for people who can't afford the procedure. They have to wait until they can afford it, and if they can't they simply have to live with their condition indefinitely or until it's bad enough that they go to the emergency room. People who are uninsured go to the emergency room for everything because, legally speaking, they can't turn you away. They have to at least diagnose and stabilize you. Because these people are broke, they generally end up not paying the bill, which means everyone else's costs go up.

You couldn't devise a worse system if you tried.

My personal horror story is that I took the time to make sure I went to an in-network hospital before I went to the ER for what ended up being an emergency appendectomy. The surgeon was in-network...for scheduled appendectomies. Emergencies were contracted out to a different organization who he was working for at the time, and that organization was not in network. So I got balance billed for it. I took the payment my insurance company gave me and sent it to him and said "look, I did all this research ahead of time and at no point did anyone ever tell me this would be out of network, so this is all you're getting out of me." They left it at that.

In most developed countries, health care is rationed by need. In the US we ration by ability to pay. I would gladly pay more for worse service so long as care was rationed by need.

I get that the spirit is what a person has seen IRL, but there's a pretty (in)famous video of a guy having sex with a woman in the driver's seat of a Tesla in self-driving mode.

I'm an elder millennial and I've spent maybe 3 or 4 hours playing a game on the internet. I have played probably several days worth of games on an intranet with friends. I'm not interested in playing against people I don't know.

I also have really old hardware so I haven't played online with a friend in maybe 15 years. I'm too busy adulting and newer gear isn't a priority.

I recall that some Mastodon instances were all showing YT links in German. It was a YT problem at one point because even Threads was having similar issues. Not sure if that was 100% fixed yet.

Of course @Ephera@lemmy.ml's comment makes a lot of sense, too.
