  • Similar thing sometimes happens to me on my ThinkPad. I have KDE Plasma and X11 (will switch to Wayland when Plasma 6 is out). Also, sometimes the exact opposite thing happens, when my mouse is frozen, but I can interact with my system using keyboard (switching wirtual desktops and windows, typing and executing commands in terminal,...) and it all works except the mouse. It's pretty rare, however. It happened few times after waking up from hibernation or sleep, but it happend even without that. Good luck with finding solution, maybe switching to Wayland will help if you'reon X11 like me.

  • I absolutely agree with you in the first point, but I think there are cases where person really doesn't have the capacity, or we don't want to try it. I think of mass murderers or child murderers or something like that. People who are going to spend their whole life in jail with life-sentence with no way of ever getting out and who cost the state money and are the reason why some people want death sentence back in my country for example. The first point still applies however and there are cases of people getting out of jail after ten or fifteen years when new evidence is discovered.

  • Sorry then, I should have written In every other country ruled by communists saying they are building communism, banning every other political party then the communist one, killing people in the name of communism. I see their unability to achieve communism even when they've had full control over country for decades as a proof of that it's not really possible.

  • I live in the central europe and I have plenty of historical data about every country that was part of the Soviet Union being authoritarian at the same time. You probably couldn't imagine what was happening here. I don't have so much knowledge about the rest of the world, but I think I heard about some genocide and concentration camps in china recently...

  • Yeah, I love the FOSS philosophy and I would be a communist if I didn't know that in my country and in every other country where communism is/was, it became a dictatorship doing reallly horrible things. I simply don't have the trust in people to believe communism is possible without violation of human rights. It's sad.
