  • The headline is a little misleading. It makes it look like officers were only acquitted, which isn't true.

3 officers were charged. 1 has already been "found guilty on charges of criminally negligent homicide and assault." The other 2 were acquitted.

The 2 paramedics involved in forcing Elijah to overdose on ketamine are awaiting trial. Not sure why we're trusting paramedics to give correct dosages of sedatives, but here we are.

  • The problem is that hotels are usually at least twice the price of motels.

And they have less weird requirements about you doing bed stripping / cleaning before you leave.

This is a big reason why airbnbs can go fuck off.

  • It should be pointed out that the 'well-regulated militia' during the time the nation was founded consisted of regular white men with guns that could be called up on a moment's notice to fight.

I'm not sure how regulated they were, but their structure likely influenced the drafting of the second amendment.

  • Looks like another commenter mentioned how this hearing is about accused (not convicted) domestic abusers.

He goes on to say how it's way easier to get a restraining order against someone than it is to prosecute them. This hearing is about preventing the former from owning guns, the latter already isn't allowed to.

  • I get holding the captain accountable for his failures, but I hope they don’t stop looking for why it started in the first place.

I don't see how they could hold him responsible without knowing how it started.

What if they find out one of the passengers started it? What if someone lied to him about maintenance? Is it still the captain's fault just because he's the captain?
