  • The new look steam got recently looks great but it's absolutely awful performing on my machine... Videos keep playing after I leave the store page, it sucks up memory and processing in the background and recently consumed so many connects to the X server I couldn't launch new programs. I'm gonna reinstall when I get home though and see if that improves things

  • But will reddit ever be the same as it was? I highly doubt it

  • Loading Gmail is so slow it makes me not want to check my mail anymore lol

  • As awesome as it is, it's still a meta search engine so you'd have to remember to exclude Google. Otherwise hosting your own search engine is mega cool!

  • It works perfectly fine if you use the closed source drivers..it just needs a few extra steps.

  • one of the most important things about text based interfaces is reproducability. Being able to run commands and get the expected results every time and easily share it with others. GUIs can be customized and re-arranged, and its much harder to automate things with a GUI program vs a text based one. Those are handy features which will probably prevent the terminal from ever dying.
