  • I was mostly referring to the (likely) candidates as options, but yes, sadly you are right. Doesnt help that by design it is more difficult to vote for certain groups than others. Still. If I had to take a day off and risk my job by doing so - It would be worth it to prevent a dictatorship!

  • Devastating read, but excellently written.

  • Sorry bot, you failed in this case

  • From a non-US standpoint this is rather easy:

You have 2 geriatric options. Option 1 would lead to a dictatorship. Option 2 would lead to the - non-ideal - status quo.

How the fuck do you even have to think about which option would be better???

  • They are scared and have been convinced that he is the only one that can help them. They are not just “shitty people voting for a shitty person” they really believe that the deep state is out to get Donald and these charges are overblown and that Donald will really save America. They won’t realize that Trump only cares about Trump; even if Trump gets another term and burns down the government and fucks everyone they still will think Donald is just one week away from unveiling his plan to fix it all.

And that is exactly my problem with that kind of thinking (or rather: believing). How did they arrive at such conclusions? Did Trump actually do ANYTHING to make their personal lives better even for a second? How many examples are there of Mr. Ivory Tower to make even an ounce of positive difference in the lives of rural folks?

So all I can see is a gullible people following the loudest talking head on a whim. It's really hard for me to feel pity, much less sympathy in this circumstance. Although pity is certainly appropriate.

  • Let me give you my (non-US) perspective: The world has watched this monster stomp on every value a decent human might have for more than 5 years. We saw the things he got away with due to a brigade of lawyers (essentially money). We all know that money talks, worldwide, but especially in the US.

I have no faith in the US justice system doing the right thing anymore (if ever). So I'll believe it when I see it.

  • I'm not an American and I read the whole 45 pages indictment. One one hand, because it was highly entertaining to read Agent Oranges tweet in such a serious context, on the other hand because, in a way, this affects the whole world. The defendant was such a horrible (and effective) role model to authoritarian politicians around the globe and I honestly believe the US won't recover from a not-guilty verdict or even worse, a second term of that ape.

But even IF he somehow, miraculously, gets a prison sentence - there is still so much to be done. The whole apparatus that enabled him should face justice. Not only his direct co-conspirators but also republican congressmen & -women that violated their oath to protect your republic from exatly the tyranny that the defendant tried to establish.

But who am I kidding; In reality I am already waiting for the announcement of his second term, the pardoning of each and everyone of his co-conspirators plus a self-pardon (how crazy is that?!) from '47. Thats how much trust I have in your system at this point.

  • While I still have some sympathy left for the few sane people in this once great nation, I'm at a point now where it is hard to really sympathize with you as a people. The political system is corrupted beyond recognition, toxicity and hate run rampant due to the allmighty "free speech" amendment and yet nobody seems to actually care if they are not personally affected in horrible ways.

By now it's really easy to say "you get the government that you deserve". And yet I dont fully believe it or want to say it because that would express the same apathy that you folks display when it comes to being governed.

So.. maybe get your shit together collectively?!

  • The Republican party long ago abandoned any pretense of actually governing and has simply become anti-democratic.

I've been wondering for years now how long it will take until the majority of your population finally recognizes the fact and hits the streets about it. So far I've been dissapointed repeatedly and crushingly. Voting repeately against your own interest seems to be some kind of national sport in the US 🤕

  • So if the guy wins even though he's imprisoned.. will they make a prison look like the white house? Or install fences and bars in the real one? So many questions...

  • I'm in this picture and I dont like it.

  • 3310.. Snake and fucking indestructable.

  • This is morbidly fascinating. Also extremely good pictures.

e: While all of the photos are great, this one struck me in particular:
