Thank you for taking the time to type this all up, you have expertly summarized the situation and Iām very grateful. Even with focused research it can be very hard to gain an objective understanding of complex subjects these days⦠doubly so when polaring topics like how to do desktop linux right are involved.
I suppose it would be foolish of the Wayland devs to wade into the middle of those waters if they want their work to remain beneficial to all. And suddenly the abstract technical details in the linked article make more sense to me⦠they really want to remain abstract from some of the implementation details.
This does seem a bit grim⦠and it perfectly explains why my problems could be fixed and one distro/wm and not another while still somehow being a āwaylaid issue.ā I suppose the best solutions/implementations will probably at least end up being shared in principle⦠I donāt really know enough about the current state of either desktop to be sure, I just wanted to say something positive :-)
The return of the Disney vaults⦠I admit Iām concerned, but Iāve watched so much soulless bullshit at quality levels that do nothing but make the flaws easier to see⦠itās not as much of a concern as it used to be.
Weāre whitnessing a spasm, itāll pass.
Good content comes from people that give actual fucks about what they are creating. They will always want you to experience the best version you can.
Iām not even sure how long MQA took, but the audio world came around and developed a lossless format that runs on commodity hardware and features a wide selection of popular⦠sound.
Itās definitely nice to have exactly the copy you want. Plus (and decidedly more on topic) you can rip any extras you want⦠although the naming scheme is a bit of a headache, thatās the part that really delights me.
That was my take on it too. The vague sense that youāre just going to end up with nothing but circle-jerks if you implement all these suggestions. I could also just be whooshing an attempt a levity, something obvious to a seasoned community moderator.
Hopefully my shitty attempts at socratic method rate a bit better then trolling, but I often doubt it :-)
People who downvote more than upvote tend to be the ones who get in fights a lot and say snarky, inflammatory and negative things.
Summed up my whole sense of humor in half a throwaway sentence ;-)
Seriously though, interesting read, thank you kux⦠you can really feel the authorās frustration and yet I canāt help but feel that they are interested in a certain kind of idealistic online community. Reddit but with a really restrictive HOA where everyone has the exact same color mailbox.
With the headline, yeah⦠kinda :-) Your answer plus a bit of āthis is why itās important.ā And I would have grunted and gone back under my bridgeā¦
Iām feeling a bit sheepish about my comment on the other side of the day.
But I was also hoping for a lot more. Better desktop security⦠and thatās underselling it because my understanding is weāre pretty much coming from zero, so this was always going to be rough.
I have yet to run into an insurmountable issue, but Iāve just hopped distros rather than (successful) troubleshooting. Always makes me grumpy ;-)
Because itās so complicated that given a page (page and a half) to answer the simple question, āWhy does Wayland support still give you more problems than solutions?ā We had to describe it like the summary of a PHD theses in client server architecture?
Everything everyone else said + cuckoldļæ¼ porn⦠that stuff thatās like ordinary boring porn with a description about how cool it is that youāre getting turned on by looking at someoneās imaginary wife.
