too true, make it a lifes mission to avoid getting shafted. take pride in once ability, for me: that is repairing electronics, using privacy respecting platforms and having as small a finger print as possible.
Plenty of big flash points at current. I think we are seeing capitalism in disrepair, similar to 1920 Europe, world powers are rebalancing and competing for the now very limited resources. The working class are taking the brunt of the hardship and seek real change, and when trump can't make good on those promises we will see a real struggle.
As a kid religion seemed like make believe, still I followed it and thought of myself as Catholics into early adult hood. Eventually I just started referring to myself as an atheist.

Even after setting embargo's the us didn't enforce private company's from exporting/importing. And before the embargo's the us were sending arms. The one of the countries America didn't work with was Russia and is partly why the us worked with the Nazis. They saw it as a means to an end in the goal to defeat communism.
