I didn’t use windows from 1999 through 2008, when I bought a laptop which of course came with Vista. I used it a bit and thought, well, for a wintendo, this isn’t horrible.
Their IPO was postponed due to the fallout from their PR and community failure. Splez is surely disappointed that this delayed his dream of living on an island with slaves.
I love it when the weather 50-55 and misty... some of my favorite days up north. But yeah, that makes for miserable, seepy camping. It's true that sub-0 is very dry. I liked how there are places almost completely impassable in the summer - mucky death swamps - and then in the winter, frozen solid, and you can just walk right over them.
We got very few balmy weather days up there, so you had to seize the day when it was time. Now and then I'd be waiting and waiting for spring or summer (since the winter is like 7 months long and real summer, maybe 2) and then I'd have work to do and realize I'd been inside working for 2 weeks while the days were delicious. Still, I'd make the most of the winter too. I loved going to a park near my house for walks when it was 0-10 degrees. It was a cross country ski track, but nobody was ever there. These days people I live with want to go for walks and check the weather, and say "35!! That's so cold!!" 35, sunny, no wind? As you note, you just have to dress right.
The person harassing me about “citations” was whining about how it’s not ALL black people and I said “certain states” and couldn’t cite that Trump intends to harm all black people.
The weird thing is people really accept it too, though. Mostly people who have never lived anywhere else and took a vacation to Arizona a couple times. I heard 'I LOVE the winter!' many times from people who then were borderline suicidal around feburary.
There are plenty of benefits from remote working too, as well as drawbacks from office work, and it hasn't been decisively shown that at-office work is always better. For some management styles, sure, I guess. The sort of work they do - website development, I'm guessing? - has been shown to be amenable to a remote work style. Advantages include being able to hire people from all over, not have to spend big money on an office, employees can save money on housing and cost of living (don't have to live near a city center) and automobile (don't have to pay for gas to drive in or maybe even have a car) and time of commute - rather than get up, shower, drive for an hour and park, they can just start work. If the employer makes tasks and time flexible, also child care, which can be crucial for some people (it can be very expensive). And if the employer really wants, they can pay people less and save those costs themselves.
Of course, some employees like it, some don't - there are people who work better remote and some prefer being around colleagues. I agree the choice of offering remote work belongs to the employer.
Sure. He could have even just hired competent people to run it and stayed out of their way, even entered politics earlier. I assume probably he wanted the chance to be an asshole to people in person, since he clearly has this huge angst. Also he's a poster child for Dunning-Kreuger - he has absolutely no idea how dumb he is, so he thought he would be the best and only choice to run his businesses.
Perhaps, and also some of the emails practically read like they were dictated by Trump. I doubt if the lawyer has 100% control since surely Trump insists on things and tries to micromanage it himself.
In those videos, upwards of seven people could be heard making vulgar comments and could be seen assaulting the child, though only Fernandez is charged.
Jesus Christ. And this is basically the result of shitty access to child care. I wonder if anti-everything-helpful Republicans ever thought of that.
He's been very clear that a second term would be based around revenge against everyone he can think of who opposed him, including broad swaths of society (all liberals, certain states, black people Democrats) plus violence and torture of races/ethnicities he hates (black people Democrats and non-white hispanics, of course), plus of course women. Pure fascism. Someone said something to me today like "people might vote for Trump because they know Biden isn't good but Trump's plans are unknown" which made absolutely no sense to me. We've had years of his bullshit in and out of office, and he's made it very clear what he would do if put back in office.
It’s pretty brave to run against Putin at all, even without criticism like this. For one, someone can’t really expect to win, so it’s essentially a form of protest. And then, look where Navalny is.
His entire personality and life constitutes a major argument against inherited wealth. He knew that he was set to inherit a ton of money and a business that would enable him to coast through his whole life and never bothered to develop maturity or intellectual curiosity.
I've been thinking about that lately. Of course they'll muddy the waters. Trumps 'fake news' bullshit already has, where he acts like major news organizations just wholesale make up stories. The result of deep fakes will be what we already have, but worse, where MAGA types believe anything negative about Democrats, no matter how ridiculous it seems under analysis, and refuse to believe anything negative about Republicans, saying it's 'fake'.
