  • I believe it. But also... Yeah? Obviously some low-level prosecutors can be sloppy but did we really expect Jack Smith to shoot from the hip and indict without thinking he'll win in what could/should have been the biggest case of his life?

  • Zelensky added that “for those soldiers who do not wish to return” to North Korea, “there may be other options available.” He did not provide further details

Most likely, "Who? Huh, he must be dead"

  • Even my absolute worst job, which had a total dump of an office, had free coffee (later found out another location across the country did not, while the main office was in a fairly nice office tower with good lighting, free coffee, and a nap room)

  • I am friends with nobody here, even if someone was sympathetic.

I am, in fact, a programmer (old enough to have not learned any language as a child) and am well-aware that "!" means not in many languages. I also have enough self-awareness to realize that not everyone would make that connection, and figured someone may have hit the symbol button on their phone keyboard instead of shift and hit "!" instead of "A". Somehow that seemed more plausible than "assume everyone knows programming syntax, even in a place like Lemmy, and choose to use that"

Fun fact: my job has made me dabble in a system so old and archaic, it uses "'" (single-quote, to save you a squint) as the "not" operator. "!" is used for newline.

  • That could be a really interesting argument, actually. Strictly speaking, is there anything about "controlling a weapon" with the way the law is written? Or just about owning a gun? Or possession of a weapon? If someone, for example, handed a controller for an armed drone to a felon who could not have a gun, is that a loophole?

Edit: thinking about this a little more and looking into it, the president is Commander in Chief of the military. The military does not generally allow felons, but there is a waiver for that. I think that if push came to shove, there could be a pathway there.

  • Wat? I made one comment replying to one word in which a letter was replaced with an exclamation point. I wanted to be sure I didn't misunderstand anything before I said too much. Where did I claim to be smarter than anyone, and what evidence did I make to the contrary?

  • "how do you plan to counter the inevitable contraction of your workforce to achieve your expansion goals?"

Also, he's probably a shit person. If he actually implements this plan I'd start inviting him to stuff on his extra work day (maybe pull in other mutual friends). Bonus points if you can make the first extra day such an awesome thing that it either eats him up inside on that day, or if you manage to get him to accept all of his employees revolt over it
