To be clear, the right of free speech given in the first amendment is the right to express any opinion without fear of repercussions.

Not the case. The 1st Amendment provides freedom of speech without fear of repercussions by the U.S. government. We do not have the right to express any opinion without repercussions from literally any other source.

For Windows user who don't want to bother learning a new OS? Mint, no question. The latest releases are easy to install and configure, Cinnamon will feel familiar, and it works flawlessly on most hardware.

A few years ago on a cruise we sat at a table with a doctor who said he was in charge of all United Healthcare insurance approvals. This guy didn't just mention he had to sometimes refuse people care, he was absolutely giddy about it and took sadistic pleasure in seeing other people suffer. We moved to a different table to get away from him.

I guess we'll find out eventually, but I've got to wonder if the shooter was pushed over the edge after someone close to him died due to refusal of care by United Healthcare.

Despite fairly congested 2.4ghz wifi in my area with 18 networks detected by my phone, all Zigbee and Tasmota wifi devices on my network are nearly 100% reliable. In my experience Zooz Z-wave devices have been less so and occasionally are unresponsive. Other Z-wave devices have been much better.

The Tasmota plugs and lights in my network generate very little network traffic. Power monitoring plugs will generate more, but with 1 second update intervals that traffic should still be minimal.

There need to be extraordinary penalties for threatening election workers, intimidating voters, or destroying ballots. How about a minimum 20 year sentence to start?

In CA, Proposition 13 limits increases and you would think it would prevent drastic overall property tax increases and the tax revenue would be fairly stable. In reality the run up in prices after 2020 has been an absolute windfall for cities and has cost property owners big time. For example, LA's budgeted property tax revenue went up 14.6% from 2022 to 2024, an absurd increase far exceeding the general inflation level but something cities and counties have come to expect.

While I think property taxes (or some replacement) are absolutely necessary in a functioning society, in my experience they way they are implemented is ridiculous and the reason for this kind of initiative.

Not so unusual these days and way more than a few. We've got most of a political party that is perfectly willing to line up behind a fascist and cheer him on.

The Republicans are all for states rights as long as those states do exactly as they say.

Trump would start a nuclear war if he thought he could save himself.

Trump planned for and started this run years ago when his dementia wasn't nearly as advanced.

Besides, plenty of people with serious mental conditions go to prison. There is only one reason he won't be one of them. He's wealthy and only the first part of "Liberty and Justice" applies to him.

Trump is only running because he doesn't want to retire to a Federal prison cell.
