  • It's a direct quote from Chip Roy. I don't think he meant to highlight the fact that House Republicans have been completely useless, but it's the text I was able to copy from the transcript.

  • The reason I included it is because it's a perfect sound byte for Democrats to campaign on.

  • Something will eventually change. The question is how many people will get hurt before it does.

  • Odd. I see the media talking about it a lot today.

  • To be honest, Biden has never been a good public speaker. He's had "gaffes" his entire career. But nothing as bad as Trump's off-topic rants or McConnell's blank mini-stroke moments.

  • Please sit down before you hurt yourself and someone else.

  • Yup, that's bullshit. It's not that the Democrats are letting it happen without a fight. It's that the media aren't reporting on what Democrats are trying to do as much as they're reporting on the juicy details of Republican corruption. Better ratings.

In the end, it comes down to elections. Democrats will follow the rules. Republicans won't. So if we don't want the worst case scenario, we have to do our part and let the Democrats do theirs.

Like nearly every single “both sides” argument in all of online history, this fulfills one of these two roles:

    • Detract from something good about Democrats
    • Deflect from something shitty about Republicans

You’ll hardly ever see a “both sides” argument in the wild that does one of these things:

    • Detract from something good about Republicans
    • Deflect from something shitty about Democrats

You may draw your own conclusions from that, gentle reader.

  • The problem in this scenario (however likely) is that if Democrats don't take back the House in 2024, Republicans get to pick the next President. In the event that the Electoral College fails to identify a clear winner, the House gets to decide who should be President. I'm not willing to bet there are enough "never Trumpers" in the House to avoid installing him anyway.

  • Honestly, at this point I'd be willing to let him run if it meant he stayed out of the Oval Office. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison, but I can't discount the possibility that the American voters will be stupid enough to let him back into power.

  • What they're discussing is the possibility that Biden doesn't make it to 270 electoral votes, and the remaining votes are split between Trump and whomever else Republicans write in. I don't think it's a very likely scenario, but it is possible under our electoral system.

  • If we're going to remain a nation of laws rather than men, then we have to be scrupulous in how we interpret and follow the law. I know you're prepared to fight fire with fire, but once you validate the precedent of destroying authoritarians by behaving like an authoritarian, you completely remove any justification for opposing what they're trying to do.

So please, sit down and shut the fuck up.

  • It's probably best not to engage the "both sides are bad" trolls.

  • There's no way he's not aware of the precedent he's following. He doesn't care as long as it gets him back into power.

  • He's been pulling millions in donations for his legal defense. He won't have a problem there.

  • Republicans had control over the Senate. What were they supposed to do? The Constitution isn't specific about what to do when a leader refuses to do their job so they can deny a SCOTUS seat to the opposition.

  • Please, continue.

When your opponent is making a false [bad] move, it is wise not to disturb him.
