  • Shit, sorry, you're a different guy I think? Apologies for that the top comment was deleted.

Still going to restate that removing trans people from the community wouldn't be identity politics, it'd be hatred

  • Half the article, or more, is a description of evengalian plot. That's some wild shit man, none of that was in any way relevent. Imma use this tactic myself.

"I'm sorry, but I am breaking up with you. You do deserve an explination as to why though but to properly convey my emotions first I'll have to describe the entire through plot of blues clues"

  • "Why identity politics bro?"

Says the first guy to bring up identity politics in the thread.

The article didn't say shit about gender you weirdo. You have hallucinated this.

  • What if multiple users have to manage that service?

Edit: nvrmnd, pretty sure the runnit solution won't allow this either, your answer is correct. What about while the service is already running? Wouldn't your solution require a restart?

  • It's a sex joke. Two sponges, a rubber glove, and some lube can aparently make a reasonable at home fleshlight. You take the sponges and place them at each side of the glove wrapping the hole around them to keep it firm before placing it in some tube, say the provided image of a man portable recoilless anti tank missile launcher, and use the lubricant to allow a persons erect member to enter this unholy contraption.

The idea is that you are between each sponge which gives pressure while the glove provides a slick surface. The m1 rocket launcher provides a sturdy structure to contain it all.

I am sorry for forcing this knowledge onto you

  • I find noise rock and general noise music to work well for me. Ronaldo and the loaf, panoram, dog milk by palm and revolution 9 by the beatles. Also a select amount of music by the residents.

Not everyones jam but It's disruptive and less than predictable. It can keep me from distractions allowing me to focus and if I wish focus on not focusing on anything.

Fantastic for my 5 minute brain off moments of mindfulness

  • Discord and matric are room based chat services. You join a room and there's a chat around some subject going on which you can participate in. I use it for my DND group to discuss upcoming games and our general lives. Some larger communities form on these apps. Say, game emulation, people who talk about a video game, college members and alumni, people in a city, weed in a country, youtubers, etc.

This seems to be a bridge that copies messages from discord and sends them to matrix, or copies messages from matrix and sends them to discord. Allowing users from one service to talk to the other. The intent is to slowly bring members of a larger discord community over to the matrix server.

  • Authoritarianism is when you judge people by their actions and beliefs, today I learned.

I'm sorry, that's incredibly funny. I love lemmy all the weirdos come out to say the wildest shit.

Sure, their core beliefs can change, as can my opinion of them when this happens.

To clarify. Authoritarianism is the belief that a singular authority should hold strong control over a system often meaning those who act against it or disagree should face punishment output by said system. I dislike people who agree with that idea, but if they change their opinion mine may too

  • Why do we need to separate somebodies core beliefs from the person?

That is the person. What they do and what they believe makes them who they are. I hate this "please just ignore this massive section of what makes up a person" trend. Sure though, you can still like this video separating creator from content, but if somebody does something terrible it's ok to no longer like that person as shown here with "I love them" followed by "I now understand more about this person and no longer love them"

  • Create a new account to do so, interact in a way to spur aggression from other users (lying in comments you can't read, being aggressive to supporters of your content, etc.), using the info you post in an attempt to dox you or otherwise stalk you, screenshot everything you post and send it to a discord that's made to harass people like you, an quite a few more.

You'de be surprised how quietly never seeing a person again stops this interaction, but just no longer engaging won't as the person will be constantly reminded of your existance. Simply disengaging while they still see your posts will quite often make then get more violent or direct in order to get a responce fron you. I've seen this before from kiwifarm members.

A real block feature may not stop all harrassment as they can still create a new account, but it's less likely to prompt it's continuation as the other user simply sees a quiet end to your existence.

  • Gpl licences don't mean free as in no payments allowed, but free as in freedom. Many open source, even gpl, software is paid. All agpl, or gpl in general, means is that the code is free to copy as long as one abides by a set of pro-consumer rules while making your changes open too. It gives specific rights to the user or person who copies the project

This means you could build or host this product for free if you wanted, taking the code and setting it up yourself, but their distribution of the code or hosting of their project can include a paid tier or payment upfront. As long as they give all code for the project to people who use it they're not in violation of the agpl

  • To do this one could install the new distro on a new partition, boot to it, delete everything from the old installation except the hone directory, move your user to the base directory (/home/sorrybookbroke -> /sorrybookbroke) before editing your /etc/fstab and mounting the old partition to /home

This way, no external drive is needed like @Luci@lemmy.ca suggested. Of course, their suggestion is the easiest, but this is the one I personally chose.

  • That sounds like some black magic type shit
