  • I've used it in the past and it does work but required you to own the PlayStore version. Alternatively you could use GeyserMC as a minecraft server to have both Bedrock and Java players on the same server.

  • I think Heroic Games Launcher is the better option, seconded by Lutris which I use if I have issue with some games through HGL which is quiete rare. There is also JunkStore as a DeckyLoader plugin but it is pretty bare bones and since you're on Mint I would say Heroic is what you should use.

Edit : JunkStore is proprietary and GoG version is paid. Both Heroic and Lutris are Free and Open Source !

  • I agree on this with the exception of PIA.

    • Marketing is BS like most VPN
    • Company is based in the USA
    • They do analytics
    • You cannot register "anonymously"

It's not the worst VPN you could choose but there is better options.

  • Well, with Kiwix I was able to download the whole english wikipedia with mid-res pictures on my 128GB USB Drive. I think the 600TB you're talking about includes videos and high-res pictures.

  • Zulip or Mattermost if you want basically a free (as in freedom) and open source alternative to Teams and slack But as you mention self-hosting isn't really an option it can become expensive.

Maybe a mix of Signal and Jitsi Meet (there is several public free instances) if you want a good balance between privacy, price and efficiency

Maybe look at the kSuite from Infomaniak it's not the best but might be a good balance too for your team.

  • I think you are looking for one of these

    • NotesNook (best free tier in my opinion)
    • logseq (like an open source obsidian)
    • Joplin (cloud is paid but you can selfhost)
    • Standard Notes (only support plain text on free tier)
  • Algorithmes aren't inherently bad. The fact that they are opaque blackbox imposed to you by the plateforms so you get addicted is why they are bad. The day we have the choice between multiple client-side transparent algos it will be better.
