It's really amazing how much these people hate doctors and healthcare. Losing their shot over Obamacare and then going as far as death threats to fauci for daring to suggest you wear a mask get vaccinated and wash your fucking hands. The horror.

Because Biden is the political equivalent of a turkey sandwich. Boring, bland, nobody's favorite, hard to criticize, hard to love, forgettable. Deflecting blame off the last guy is all they got and it's pathetic how hard they're reaching.

It would be a lot easier to sell RTO if rent weren't outrageously high anywhere near a downtown central business district. I prefer office personally and don't mind a 20 minute commute or so but any more than that is a real drag. It's real hard for me to tell someone to fight an hour and a half of rush hour traffic just to get to the office and be harassed for 8-12 hours and then do it all again at night.

My only takeaway from the House hearing about it a few months ago is that there doesn't seem to be a proper channel for reporting anomalies and hazards etc. They made a pretty good case for that at least IMO. But I'm not an expert on such things so I'm sure the internet will tell me loud and clear if I'm wrong.

I hate bars, like really really hate them. I don't understand how to behave there. Everyone else seems to innately know how to be appropriately inappropriate, just the right level of rowdy. I like lounges, and the occasional club. But I never got the hang of bar social etiquette. So I CERTAINLY don't want to add the extra layer of complexity by putting my colleagues and bosses right the fuck there next to me. It's just awful for me and I know I'm not the only one. Especially since I cut out 99% of my drinking. Fuck that, I just want to go home.

Adding to this: SEC regs for officers in public companies require them to plan and disclose trades well in advance. It's not exactly my field and I'm way too lazy to research, but it's probably like one or two quarters in advance. This is to prevent market panic and speculation exactly like the bs in this thread.

Besides slashdot back in the day I'm not sure if there's a single place on the internet where people stop to think. And slashdot was heavily biased too come to think of it.

Once for my birthday my aunt baked me not one but two cakes! She couldn't remember if I prefer chocolate or vanilla so she just made both. That was a week of indulgence I vividly remember, and my god at the end there I was so relieved those damn cakes were eaten omg XD

Fuck 'em, let them. Our institutions have held up pretty well all things considered. It'll hold. If they want to die on that hill it isn't worth our democracy to keep them off it.

Lemmy is such a confusing place. People yell at you and downvote for expressing just about any opinion, any direction. Guess I'll go fuck myself then.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but antiwork and related pages are full of mis/disinformation that is very misleading and dangerous if large groups are swayed by it. The people there are particularly aggressive and savage about it when their ignorance is pointed out in good faith. Again I get it and their hearts are usually in the right place, but I'd recommend steering clear.

I'm right and that asshole is wrong. Everything would be great if we just beat the crap out of that guy. I just solved all of our problems. Feels great being right doesn't it? Damn I'm awesome. Better than railing a fat line of blow.

I read once that it's a social evolution thing. Humans are more likely to survive if we work together, and part of working together means following the rules and a little bit of self sacrifice. We get a little shot of dopamine when we call someone out for breaking the rules because it makes the tribe stronger. The problem is that we figured out that psychological hack and it's being exploited now to insane levels. We are wired to stop the guy next to us from eating twice his share of the crop or whatever, not for seeing every little assholeish thing some random politician said on the other side of the country, or every person a cop beats up, or every time a Karen is rude to a cashier, and so on. I don't know how accurate that is but it sure sounds right.

I'm pretty sure the stories themselves are fake but a lot of the situations are plausible that I can kind of see happening some time. The comments sometimes have a lot of useful guidance for navigating complicated social situations. But yeah I do agree with you overall.

I'm a fairly unapologetic capitalist and think overall it's a pretty good model. But that might be the most staggering out of touch arrogant opinion I've ever read and that's REALLY saying something. Not everyone wants their own business (I sure don't). And businesses need employees to do their thing. It's a symbiotic relationship. How can he not see that?

Man I wish I could buy a $4 latte. Prices for everything are just insane these days. I feel like a basic bitch coffee and croissant at any random place is gonna be $10 now. They're trying to tell us it's monetary inflation and/or supply chains but that's all bullshit. I'm in Northern Europe right now and even in pricey chic downtown areas it'll be like €5 tops.

I think it's because of the high risk high reward factor of taking on a ton of leverage which is usually needed for RE. That tends to attract people looking for quick big returns without a ton of work, who are arrogant enough to think they'll succeed where many others fail (and believe me, plenty do fail).

The result is that only the most successful ones survive, and since they were arrogant douchebags to begin with, they think they are extra special.
