  • I've seen and read enough credible evidence to suggest someone out there feels this way. Even if it is a joke, things like brushing and flossing and even washing your hands after using the bathroom are controversial for a ton of people. Marketing is real important for encouraging these people to be better.

  • A 10 hour movie 🙄

So annoying the way all these shows are just stretched out into series when they can and should be a movie. And vice versa too, movies are all 3+ hours now I feel like, even friggin Indiana Jones was 2.5 hours, if you got that much to say just make it a miniseries or something jeez.

Now if you'll excuse me I got some clouds to yell at.

  • I still haven't watched it. I think I might be done with Trek. There's just been too much damage in the last decade with those godawful jj abrams movies, discovery, picard, blech. It's clear to me the franchise has moved in a different direction and we'll always have tng and ds9, but I just can't follow it anymore.

  • I feel like one issue is that McFarlane does not share the ideals of Star Trek. I don’t get the impression that he sees the value of non-interference, for example. But nevertheless, the Union believes in it because the Federation does.

Don't watch stargate then! Star Trek is all like no we can't interfere, the prime directive, oh no, we can't share our technology! Then Stargate rolls in, tells the primitive locals their gods are fake, by the way check out these automatic machine guns, want one? lol

  • Wait which part is blasphemous? It's been like 25 years since criticizing star wars is blasphemy lol..

My problem with modern trek is that it's just really really shitty B or C rated generic action/dramas with a star trek "skin" on it. But if you changed a few characters names, the setting, and a few minor things, it would be indistinguishable from any other generic shitty forgettable show you've seen. It's like the writers have never actually seen star trek.

  • A good point. I feel like everything I watch now I just cannot stand any of the main characters. They're either abrasive angry awful people that I want nothing to do with, or boring dull wooden textbook characters that are so cliche you already know what the plot will be before it happens. These days if I don't like the characters within a few episodes, and care about what happens to them, I'm out.

  • I literally shed tears while watching the first episode because I didn't realize how badly I needed new star trek that doesn't suck. I just hit me right where I needed it to scratch that itch, and I was so overwhelmed. Also it made me hate even more what "real" trek has become. Huge fan, I didn't realize season 3 is already on, gotta check it out.

  • They've got some outstanding moments too. Rescuing carter after the battle of the supergate when she was EV is one of my favorite scenes in the series.

Col Mitchell has a great line during that battle I think, 'this is gonna be one of those days when one nuke isn't enough' lmfao...

Vala at one point says 'the last time I was this bored I took hostages' etc.

'You're in the desert and come across a turtle on its back and you don't help it. Why? Because I am a turtle too.'

I didn't mean to shamelessly throw quotes at you but there's so much, plenty of magic in those seasons. Good way to ween yourself off SG-1 after binging eight seasons lol

  • Seriously, I haven't smoked in years and don't use any other drugs but I'd be worried about being caught with a cannabis seed on my shoe or something stupid like that. Forgot to flush the urinal at the dive bar? Ten lashes! Fuck that shit

  • I try so incredibly hard to be even keeled and not jump down throats with political rage. But even the phrase you used there, "you're either with us or against us" my first though was gee who's fault is that. (Bush II leading up to the iraq invasion in 2003 if anyone doesn't know. 20 years ago so officially history I guess.)

No matter which angle I think about it I just can't stand the gop.

  • Those people are mentally ill. Living in a permanent state of mania or hypomania isn't normal or healthy. But because they are hyperfocused and sleep only a few hours a night they manage to get themselves into leadership positions and set the tone for literally everyone else. It's fucked up.

Setting boundaries is crucial for dealing with these people. I'm so glad my resume and circumstances are strong enough to be able to stand up for myself.

  • It's hard to think of anything that "gets me the most" about the last 6-8 years but this is up there. If you pin them down by the ears and make them answer, most will say they would rather have King Trump than President Biden.

Ask them, what about after King Trump dies? What if a democrat manages to take the throne and get all the power he had? Watch them sputter.

    It's so disturbing.
