Working in a remote environment

It was a fun project and we actually did compile everything starting with a boot floppy and RHEL source. Dad did most of the work to start and gradually handed it off to me to get different things working. I had a big binder of documentation to read through, but hese days there are a ton of Linux from scratch tutorials out there to follow.

He's being super cagey here very carefully talking about "developer salaries" trying to hide the fact that he's soliciting direct donations to himself and Dessalines, who are the people who have chosen to run .ml the way they have, and who are now dealing with the consequences of being petty asshole despots to the broader fediverse.

Personally I don't have a grudge against .ml because of their politics, I have a grudge against them because of the way I have been treated directly by these two. You want me to give you money so you can ban me for increasingly idiotic and petty reasons? Fuck off. Or apologize, and then fuck off.

Even if a school is completely funded, fundraising still pays for things above and beyond what any funding buys. Elite private schools still do fundraising drives. Nobody has ever said "you know what, we've run out of things this school could spend money on."

Compared to Canada a lot more flights from EU to US are for family and work. Comparatively, lot of EU tourism happens within that context, instead of just random destination travel.

It's partially an ego thing for Musk. I work with tons of these dunning Kruger techbro types who think they know better than everyone else and will eat a lot of shit to "prove" it. My experience anywhere on Lemmy that .ml touches has been notably worse than anything I have experienced on reddit.

Fuck the lemmy.ml devs. I'm not going to donate to a group of people who have clearly targeted me over and over again across multiple accounts with petty bans for gently questioning their authoritarian orthodoxy.
