  • Quite the reverse, in my opinion. Marketing is full with extroverts who love this type of thing, and that 20% sale increase is the only thing management will ever talk about (they get extra points to give away). While the quiet introverted programmer who keeps the company running at all gets nothing.

  • We have something like this at work. It's called Bonusly. Everyone gets a certain amount of points each month, to gift to others. Accrued points can be redeemed for gift cards, travel vouchers etc. Ofcourse it's nothing but a popularity contest with absolutely zero to do with actual merit.

  • What do you mean by the transactional cost is not zero yet? The literal price of a bank transfer in my country is already zero (and near-instanteneous). And you can initiate one with a QR code or text message, both of which are very common.

But people still primarily go to aggregators for food delivery. Why? Because network effect: 80% of restaurants are there, so if you're not 100% sure where you want to buy you're food, you go there. Even if that ends up being 20% more expensive than going to www.websiteofrestaurant.com

  • This worries me though. I've found chatgpt to be wrong in basically every fact-based question I've asked it. Sometimes subtly, sometimes completely, but it always hallucinates. You cannot use it as a source of truth.

  • I'm on Connect right now. I quite like it, especially how fast it is (or maybe that's a consequence of Lemmy being fast in general). UI seems clean enough. But I really really miss the content filtering that Sync provided.

I was really positively surprised to hear Sync is being developed for Lemmy. Hoping it releases soon!
