Yeah watch some videos of people playing for sure!
My complaints are that the tutorials are repetitive and intrusive—like c’mon game, I’ve been playing for years, I know how to do a squat. The “story” is 100% forgettable but not skippable. With a couple of the rhythm based exercises, the switch loses track of where the joycons are and counts those reps as “wrong”. (Fortunately it’s pretty simple to avoid those specific exercises most of the time.) And I wish there were an easy way to incorporate weights during the times I’m trying to build muscle mass.
But overall it’s interesting and engaging enough that I don’t mind it as much as more traditional types of exercise I’ve done.
I’ve been doing Ring Fit Adventure on the Switch for a couple years now. It’s more interesting than running, I don’t have to get ready and go out to a gym, and I can do it in any weather.
Basically, it’s easily accessible and novel enough that that’s the one that has stuck with me since 2018ish.
Pretty open ended, it lets them talk about something that brings them joy, and it allows them to go as deep or shallow as they feel comfortable. Maybe they’re truly looking forward to their prick stepson graduating and leaving the house, but instead they can just say how they’re looking forward to fall, with the leaves changing colors and pumpkin spice lattes.
It’s a single player, top-down, 2D space combat and trading game. If you ever played Escape Velocity back in the mid 90s(?), it’s essentially a clone of that setting and gameplay.
I’m hoping they actually make it to production and they’re a fantastic replacement to pneumatic tires.
BUT, it’s a Kickstarter, with estimated delivery almost a year from now. I’m withholding my excitement until they’re actually in use by regular people in the real world
However, players should note that some PS2 titles rely on the PS2 controller's pressure-sensitive face buttons to receive different inputs from a half-press than from a full press.
I see the bit about pressure sensitive face buttons. Where do you see shoulder buttons?
