  • Yeah I have a usb dock with HDMI plugged into my TV, and an old Xbox One controller paired to the Deck. Basically works the same as a docked Switch

  • particularly casual users (which I think we could use a lot more of).

I feel like this isn’t discussed in enough of these meta discussions.

I want, for instance, for a video game discussion to have some input from the dude who has just buys Madden and Call of Duty every year.

  • Ok, yeah I’ve tried trackpadding other games on the Deck and it was a thoroughly unenjoyable experience for me. Maybe I’ll try to push through again with this game

  • Yeah I’ve tried using the Deck’s trackpads in games. I’m ok with it for an occasional menu, but I haven’t been able to enjoy it enough to use it as a primary gaming input device

  • Ok I wasn’t try to make a judgement about the price. I’m not really in the market for something like this. I was just curious, and figured others would be too.

  • According to the Steam page, it does not have controller support.

I’m waiting for that too, so I can play on the Deck or on the couch

  • And it’s $250

  • Yeah I’ve played some games on GamePass on my Deck via MS Edge and xcloud. It works pretty well for anything where input lag isn’t a factor, like turn-based games.

I tried Rocket League and Forza just for shits and giggles, and while it’s not unplayable, it’s also not responsive enough to be enjoyable

  • I’m gonna look at reviews and gameplay first. But if it’s got 10+ hours of what looks to me like fun, then I’ll probably buy it

As with V, I’m not interested in the online stuff

  • Yeah my 70 yo aunt has had platonic “girlfriends” for at least 30 years

  • The lead acid battery in your car is rechargeable

  • Oh, yeah you gotta seek out the files that specifically have the commentary included. They seem less common now than in the DVD days.

Hopefully someone else can help with searching strategies, but you may just need to buy/rent/borrow the Blu-ray discs.

  • I’m not sure I understand the question.

Usually they’re on the Blu-ray/DVD (or ripped file) as an additional audio track. Like, you’d have English, Spanish, French, and Commentary

  • Maybe it’s in Australia. They haven’t discovered octagons yet

  • What TV did you get that doesn’t have smart features?

I looked, but all the ones I could find were 1080p, no HDR, and either tiny or made for commercial/industrial installation.

  • Who’s this? Why do you miss them?

  • What is it? What does it do?

I see it’s a “fan control plugin” but I don’t understand what it plugs into or what it offers

  • They’ll get enough young people who are enchanted by the ideas of living in a “hip” city and/or making video games
