  • Housing was too expensive and we wanted to move back east closer to family. Most of our Oakland friends took a similar path between ‘18 and ‘22

  • Yeah if I see a “used once” tool on Craigslist, I’m not paying 95% of retail for it

  • Yeah I borrowed a bunch of hand and power tools from the Oakland public library when I lived there in the 2010s. They also had a shit ton of video games

  • The only time google gets me better results than DDG now is if I have a really vague question, like “movie where the guy wears a trash bag on his leg and has a piña colada on the train to Milwaukee”

  • Yeah most standard American chocolate is waxy and tasteless

  • The Niagra brand peanut butter cups are my crack. Probably the most expensive ones in the supermarket, but I shouldn’t be eating too many anyway

  • Those ones are my favorite

  • Nah you just call your accountant and have them do it. You got jet skis to ride.

  • I have a Toshiba microwave from like 5 years ago. I hold down the 8 button, it beeps to confirm, and then no more beeps. Works great

  • It’s just the book and verse number on screen, like “Psalms 3:10” or whatever. Along with a graphic of a mouse(?) in a hat.

Usually in the last 10 seconds or so of the video IIRC

  • lol yeah, in the 90s you could go in there and buy a couple resistors, a couple capacitors, and a couple (expensive, crappy) LEDs

I can see how that didn’t work out for them though

  • There could be some purple states where the stars align and this passes, but yeah, at least a generation, probably more

  • Just a note on the tax part:

Consequently, while all Puerto Rico residents pay federal taxes, many residents are not required to pay federal income taxes. Aside from income tax, U.S. federal taxes include customs taxes,[1] federal commodity taxes, and federal payroll taxes (Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment taxes).

  • I’ve got the same song lyric thing, and a pretty decent 5.1 setup.

It’s the modern sound mixing. When I watch a movie from the 90s or early 2000s using the same system, the dialogue is generally clearer

  • You can use “extensions” for Safari, and there are at least a couple ad blocking extensions. I use Purify, and it works pretty well at blocking ads

  • I use a Safari extension called Purify. It’s in the App Store. Works pretty well for me.

    (I also use a pi-hole at home)

  • I’m gonna disagree with that other commenter. I’d recommend starting with DOS2 before 1. DOS2 is much more refined and generally less annoying to play. And they’re separate stories, so nothing in 2 would spoil the experience of 1

But they’re both good games worth playing, so don’t let that indecision stop you from trying either

  • So if I were looking to fly with this in mind, you have any suggestions on finding flights on Airbus or older Boeing planes? I.E. is there a flight search site where you can specify? Or at least where it shows the plane on the search results page?

  • Inspired by this video, I tried making smörgåstårta, a Swedish sandwich cake.

It had lots of ingredients, but it was like eating salty mayonnaise-flavored swamp mud.

  • Seconding On shoes. My fancy pants wife got me a pair a couple years ago, and now just about every other shoe feels cheap and unsupportive by comparison
