I have a pixel 6 and generally like it. Googles stock rom is where my issues with the pixel come up. Generally its not spookier than any other googled android phone. The rom looks good when the device is knew but from what I've seen online it tends to get slower after 2 years. This is nor an issue for me however since I moved over the graphineOS.
Ugh "free speech" IE you can debate random trans people just trying to live their lives. Twitter always had some level of free speech. Neat though that anonymous login kinda works!
I use graphine and put all the spooky apps in my "work" profile and that seems to make me feel safe enough, keep in mind while I would love it if I could convince every single friend to move to FOSS applications I know deep down that would be really hard to do
I use android and I will still say I think iOS had an edge when it comes to security. iOS sandbox is far more restrictive of what apps can and can't do. While I disagree with certain restriction others I can see. Keep in mind as far as I am aware android apps can still do things like list every application on the device, and don't get me started on Google Play services
No! They will try to pass some legislation that bans anyone who doesn't have an instance licence from hosting an instance and demand free speech absolutism
To all the people here screaming about SMS bad! I feel like for me signal was like an iMessage for android, like one could get their family to use it by just replacing their SMS app with it. It just worked. With a seperate app its like useless cause most people dont seem to care about end to end encryption and just want to use 1, maybe 2 apps. Yes SMS is horrible but it helped with adoption cause it was the app you could just get your same text messages in but if the other person had signal you had more features. Similar to how iMessage works
I use simple SMS anyway, I honestly would love to see a modern dailer for degoogled android. I wonder if we could get the little verified caller checkmarks on a Foss dailer app
Is it possible to exploit these phones in the future, I remember unlocking the bootloader on my amazon fire tablet using an exploit.
