I am currently in the ptocess to document my docker fioes and upload them to codeberg with a readme, it takes a bit, will let you know once I am done

Will share this evening after work.

My setup: Locally (all in docker):

• JF for managing and local access
• JF with read only mounted volumes that uses the network of my Wireguard client container
• Wireguard client opening a tunnel to Wireguard server on VPS ** Ping container regularly doing pings to Wireguard Server so the connection stays up (didn't manage it otherwise)

VPS (Oracle Cloud free tier, also everything in docker):

• Caddy as a reverse proxy with https enabled and geolocking (only certain countries are allowed to connect to)
• fail2ban to block IPs that try to bruteforce credentials
• Wireguard server

Usernames are not shown in the frontend and have to be entered. Passwords are generated by a password manager and can't be changed by the user.

So my clients just get the URL of my reverse proxy and can access the read only JF through my Wireguard tunnel. Didn't have to open any ports on my side. If someone is interested I can share the docker compose files later.

Are you aware of findroid? It's an android app that also lets you download the series and watch it in offline mode like other streaming services. Maybe this is an option.

Did you upgrade your account to a paid one? I've read that this might help to precent from being deleted. Even with a paid-as-you-go account you're able to use the free tiers.

The recent events show why we need encryption. Fascism is on the rise, it won't take long until they search your messages for anything that goes against their will. That's how they get rid of opponents. Back in the days it was checking letters and depending on neighbors to rat you out either by manipulating them believing that you are the enemy and dangerous for the country or by punishing people that knew what you said against the government etc.

I think the main Problem with raspberry pi is the video encoding and that it doesn't have enough power to do it properly depending on the codec.

Do you have some movie recommendations? I'm also happy to hear about older movies (60s 70s 80s)

The quality contrast between blu ray and DVDs is massive if done properly. As I said I only encountered it two times so far and I guess this was simply a cheap money grab and taken from the DVD or even worse sources yeah. Mostly noticable if they out multiple movies onto a single disc, but with all the other stuff blu ray is way more crisp than dvd. Maybe your tv is just better in upscaling. I guess especially for animes it's easy to do so

I got tired of blu rays somehow:

• trailers at the beginning (skippable)
• copyright and and piracy warning (non skippabale)
• usually no english subs for blu rays bought in germany (original english sound though)
• got one with really bad quality and other versions on the internet looked way better (original the hills have eyes)
• wanted to lend a friend without a blu ray player a few by giving him my old laptop with a blu ray drive. No proper software to play it without fiddeling under linux
• resources and plastic cases (started buying used - but then if it's a really good movie the studio won't receive any support for it)
• players will need updates to be able to handle new encryption keys (never ran into it though bc I keep my PS updated)

Pros:

• the collection looks nice in the shelf
• picking up a movie is usually easier for me than on netflix
• I watched the bonus material after the movie which was often interesting

I can't remember but I thought that for the Witcher ending I had she didnt go through the trials. I mean one reason is iirc that there is noone knowing how to do it.

I know that feeling and you're not alone. It's terrifying and I don't know how others handle it or if everyone just keeps quiet about it or live in ignorance about that fact. Also doesn't help that I don't believe in an afterlive.

So also keep it on while sleeping? Sounds a bit scary. I guess back in the days someone was chosen to keep the fire running anyways but nowadays? Also turnover wouldn't happen for a few hours.
