  • He should go after the ones bankrolling him and pushing hard wing ideologies to him. But yet again the same would have to apply to democrats financing billionaires. I guess let's shoot the messenger and hope no one smarter and more popular comes after him.

  • Don't think it stops here. Interest groups and billionaires have always been busy reforming and reshaping politics to maximize their interests. Here it's blatant, but it tells you also the story on why we don't have public healthcare or free education.

  • I'm not defending him, I'm trying to understand why those billionaires are sinking millions into a lost cause. There is no chance for him to win but still he could influence the campaign by forcing talk and debate onto subjects that matter to them and not other that matter more.

  • Those donors are investing into something meaningful to them. Even if he has no chance of winning, he can still shape the public discourse and orientate debates to the right. When everyone talks only about the border, you talk about the border and not healthcare.

  • Since politic is a joke let's bring in a professional! Coluche a very famous French comedian declared this during his campaign. He campaigned in the late 70s for the presidential election a blank candidate for the blank voters and really shakes up the entrenched political class. After polling at almost 10% and huge pressure he renounced. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coluche

Another famous comedian who get elected was Zelinsky the current Ukrainian president. His candidacy was seen as a joke by many including Putin. Must be less funny now for him. Not a professional politician and rose up quite well for the challenges.

Jon Stewart has strong principle and sound ethics he would make a better candidate than most of these professional politicians.
