  • I've seen it mentioned that his speech was more of a shot across the bow of DNC leadership, highlighting that shit needs to change. Personally, I lean more toward your sentiment.

  • That is the one that's killing me too. I just received an email that my subscription date is coming up. I want to cancel, at least my soul really wants me to cancel. But my broken body, limited $$, and limited mobility makes me feel like it would be cutting of my nose. It is really difficult to get to, never mind around, local stores.

  • I've read that he was a bit of a pain in the ass to work with, but I've always appreciated the results. So many great rolls. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is great, Tombstone, etc. I've not met too many people who mention The Salton Sea. That's in my top 3 for his performances.

  • This is part of the mental bulletpoints I use to support the statement that it is over, these are just the aganol gasps of an already dead ideal. They've tried for many election cycles to disenfranchise voters. Voting roll purges, lack of voting locations, obstacles to voting, etc..

People are still acting like the Judicial will help things, but they overturned Roe v Wade, promoted presidential immunity, said it was OK for a Constitutionally unqualified candidate hold office.

Maybe the Legislature will help things, they couldn't even convict trump on two obvious impeachments, in addition to the rest of their crap. Congress is broken, and has been for awhile.

OK, so at least the voters can help things. LOL, look at who keeps getting elected, reelected, on both parties. Voters suck balls, and just to be sure voters don't get their voices heard, see my first paragraph.

  • Easy, but then people will throw up their hands and say,"That's not easy, how the fuck am I supposed to know that?"

    pdftk input.pdf cat 1-endeast output output.pdf

You know that through man pages, tdlr or whatever. Then if you find yourself doing it a lot, you make a tiny script that makes the process something like

    pdfr <input> <optional output>

  • I absolutely hate all this container shit, for my uses. That said, they make sense when you need to sandbox applications for whatever reason, but most of those uses seem like they would be better served with VMs.

  • I get the vim frustration. The first Linux distro I used shipped with a broken x-server and vi(m) (late 90s) as the editor, so it was definitely jumping in with both feet. It was Vim or Emacs, and Emacs seemed like more than I was willing to take on at the time. It's kind of annoying how much other editors frustrate me now. I know a lot of people are OK with nano, or whatever editor, but every time I find myself not using vim to edit these days it freaking kills me.

  • It always makes me kind of sad when people disparage CLI use. It's like people thinking they don't need to actually learn anything because they can always look up what they need to know on their phone. It seems a shame to miss so much of the richness of the experience. I found myself arguing, promoting, whatever, terminal use a few times and then realized how pointless it is. It's like arguing with someone about what food they like. You can just hope they develop a more sophisticated palate at some point, or at least become more open-minded, but you can't force it on them.

This was a long way to get around to saying I like that you had that change of frame and are embracing the fun of personalizing your interactions with your computer.

  • Most people over here have been beaten down almost completely by a sick capitalist culture. The group who is "fighting for who's the most righteous" (<- a phrase I love, for what that's worth) is the same group fucking most of us.

  • For anyone who loves Vim, Vimwiki is freaking great. I've been using it for many years. I'm not sure if it's still being updated anymore, and I've never been able to find a mailing list or anything along those lines though.

  • Newsom thinks being more dynamic means pivoting to the center (wherever it happens to be), way before candidates do that. He's toast. Or at least I hope he is. I said that for our convicted felon president too though, so ¯(ツ)_/¯.
