  • Mutually assured destruction was supposed to be a deterrent to anyone using nukes. Not to enable an aggressor force to do what they want without repercussions out of fear that they would use nukes. If they use nukes, at a minimum they'll no longer exist. Probably along with the rest of us.

  • Here's a tip I picked up somewhere. Make a playlist. An hour or two worth of music. ONLY listen to it when you're studying. I've found my brain just blocks it out after a few times through, but it triggers my subconscious or something. As in, if I'm not feeling like studying, I put it on and my brain just goes,"OK, it's time to study." I change it up when I'm starting a new long task (writting a new book, starting a new semester, whatever). At first, I find myself listening to it, but it doesn't take much repetition for it to fade into the background.

  • 16 hour shifts are bullshit. 12 hour shifts are bullshit. I did those hours when I was in my 20s, but I don't think I got anything out of it but resentment towards society. I certainly couldn't pull those hours when I got older, and add a family on top of it. Jesus. It's not like firefighters who work crazy shifts, but sleep and work out for a majority of their "shift".

  • It just uses nitrogen. You can order a bottle of nitrogen from Amazon. That, a plastic bag, and some tape, you're good to go. When I learned that, I felt way more secure about my choice to kill myself, hopefully years and years from now. As long as something doesn't happen sooner to take the choice out of my hands.
