Lived through it myself.

People are so weird. Their online presence means so much to so many. I want to reply to all of them, just switch instances. As important as they feel, nobody is going to bat an eye when they move, yet they feel that they are really losing something if they do.

I stopped after Season 4. I wanted to wait until the whole thing was out and then binge the hell out of it for a couple days. After that last season, I've never felt the need to continue. Although I'm pretty sure the next season or two are fine.

I think it's a bunch of kids with little life experience. On one hand their passion recalls fading memories of my own young, idealistic self in my 20s. On the other hand, politics doesn't work with raging hardliners. On the third hand, the world is pretty fucked, the US is going to hell in a handbasket and I don't think geriatrics are who we should be voting for. You say Congress is the problem, but really, it's voters. Voters just fucking suck. But unless someone wants to do away with any type of democracy, shitty voters is where we are at.

Try it. Easy enough to have both options on your machine. I poke into Wayland about every 6-12 months, then go back to X11 because I just can't be fucked with fixing shit that works under X11 and is broken with Wayland. Plenty of people try Wayland and don't have any issues. Eventually just about everyone will be on Wayland, if that makes a difference to you. I'll check it again in maybe near the end of 2023.

Words should matter though. The guy you responded too is correct. There is a very big difference in responses to pandemics vs drought. Both can cause upheaval, but that's about where the similarities end.

A fucking livable minimum wage to start at. Universal health care for another. Free, or very inexpensive, education for a third. Basic things that other countries seem able to do.

Never trust someone religious. By definition they are ruled by fairy tales, and that's not a rational approach to living.
