  • Holy shit, a lot of weirdos mad in the comments.

  • Is this for sharkfin soup in east Asia? Man, absolutely awful practice.

  • No wonder Michelle Obama doesn't show up to Presidential events anymore if she doesn't have to.

  • Oglaf spotted!

  • Still can't believe the former CEO of Buzzfeed is the brother of Gina from Brooklyn 99...

The upper echelons of culture really is a tight circle...

  • I have a 2015 Rav 4 that's just on the cusp. It has built in GPS/Infotainment unit that has buttons, and needs to be updated by going to the Toyota website, downloading the software updates onto a USB, and then plugging the USB into the car's port.

Honestly it's the perfect level of tech for me. Sure the built-in maps are a bit outdated now, but I don't need cellular service to navigate around, and I have infotainment and climate buttons on my steering wheel as well as the dashboard.

Praying it lasts another 10 years.

  • You get it. People are already dismissing Kendrick as "some rapper". Imagine trying to talk about Single's Inferno here. 💀

  • Hawk Tuah was fascinating in observing the generational divide in meme cultures.

Boomers found it crass, GenX/Xilleniala mostly found it funny at face value, and Zillenials/GenZ made hawk tuak jokes steeped in 5 layers of irony because they found it "cringe".

    It was Minions 2.0.

  • Cato was a dick.

Julius Caesar would like to award you a consulship.

  • You can just scroll away? There is no Kendrick Lamar content on Lemmy, and if you're talking about seeing it on other corporate social media, you can filter/block it out quite easily.

  • Kendrick Lamar has a Pulitzer, why would you feel stupid for learning about him?

  • Hahaha yeah Funko Pop collectors are so weird right hahahaha

-casually hides my Play Arts Kai Sephiroth and Cloud behind a curtain-

  • Ngl, Mastodon is closer to feeling like Lemmy than Twitter. I know it's heresy to say here, but Bluesky is probably the closest feeling to old Twitter, including the random 3am hole pics on "What's Hot" lol. I scroll there, but I don't post bc I find talking on Lemmy a nicer experience tbh.

I also find it interesting that you find IG Reels a better algo for you than Tiktok, because most people say their Reels algo is a MESS. You must have curated your follows and likes pretty well.

  • Mr Beast drama has been a big part of my entertainment as well.

This shit was/is RIDICULOUS. I dropped off of it because life got busy but man...Youtubers were a mistake...

  • What pop culture communities are you a part of? I would also like to subscribe.

  • I feel that. I find it funny that the retro gaming communities here are more active than the regular ones lol, unless a big gaming company does something shitty (as they are always doing).

I once thought about making a post about how funny it is that Godzilla, the embodiment of the horrors of nuclear war, and Hatsune Miku are now in a game doing the griddy together. But then I realised I didn't want to get absolutely roasted for playing Fortnite with my friends every now and then.

  • All the power to you! I think I also like it here for similar reasons as you. I can get a lot of advice and perspectives from people older than me without being called a slur.

For example: I learned about Iran-Contra from someone who was actually living during it and explained to me why exactly it was seen as Carter's failure, when I have the power of hindsight and history and can see how it was clearly manufactured. At no point was I called a bleeding heart or libtard during that explanation, even though the person made it clear they voted for Reagan. It was nice!
