  • The DS shop closed in March 2023, so unless you already bought those titles, you won't be able download them. I would look into homebrewing your 2DS, it's not that complex and the step by step instructions are very thorough.

I mean you could also try to find 2nd hand sellers, but the prices of DS games have jumped a LOT in the past few years.

  • I love that there are so many options for nuSocial tbh. Federation rocks.

  • Oh man, highly recommend Link Between Worlds with a 3DS if you can get your hands on one! I know many people thought it was gimmicky, but it genuinely blew my mind how good the game looked in 3D. Probably tied with Samus Returns and RE:Revelations for some of my best gaming experiences on the 3DS.

  • I've played almost every Zelda except 1+2 (I swear I'll get to it...someday) and the CD-i ones. BotW + TotK was some of my favourite times with the franchise, it really took me back to experiencing the OoT + MM duology.

I think a lot of the "People hate BotW/TotK/x Zelda" is partially an online circlejerk, tbh. No matter what the vocal Zelda fans may tout as "popular" opinion, there's actually a lot of variance in and outside of the Zelda community. I remember when Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were touted as the black sheep of the franchise, and look at them now.

(Except Wand of Gamalon. That might be the one universally hated Zelda game in my experience, lol.)

  • Yep, that's what everyone I know with Apple devices have always done. I used to have a Nexus 7 (rip) and an iPhone, and the prices on the App store were always higher than the prices on Android Market (rip).

I'm wondering why it's being pointed out now by everyone, but I'm not gonna complain if it leads to some sort of price parity regulation across platforms.

  • I'm just old enough to have heard all of this many times before. But sure, I'm the one that needs educating

Here's the thing though, what you're "hearing" is a false narrative, and I linked you the numbers to prove it. The voter turnout for younger generations is on par or only slightly lower than other generations, and actually higher in the key battleground states. So why are you so defensive and pessimistic instead of acknowledging what you "heard" about youth turn out might be false and actually a systemic problem, not a generational one?

I'm all for optimism and I truly hope Texas goes blue. But I bet you it won't.

Texas literally cannot go full blue unless there are several districts that are un-gerrymandered. It's part of the Republican capture of battleground states. Again, a systemic problem that you imply are an individual's fault.

  • Quick thought, how about we stop calling places where people are trying to live their lives "shithole countries?"

Went to India for a month tour, no gang rapes in sight, lots of good food eaten, lots of beautiful architecture seen. Went to Germany, had to stop three German men from harassing and pulling a tiny woman into a car she clearly didn't want to get into.

Maybe I should have written an international news article about it. 🤔

  • You're right, I can read the text now! And for some reason my brain likes this version of the photo more than OPs? It's strange but it looks more "correct" to me.

  • I was thinking the exact same thing. This is the opposite of dystopian, this shows a government that cares about citizen safety.

  • It's partially a joke, but there is non-negligible subsection of privileged gay men who believe than any form of femininity is beneath them, to the point of misogyny. They believe that trans women, femme presenting NBs, and even femme leaning cis gay men are lesser than them. Hence the joke among the queer community that "they hate women more than they like men".

Reading Peter Thiel's essay, it certainly seems to reflect the mentality of those types of people I've interacted with IRL. Fortunately they are drowned out by the rest of the queer community.

  • I wonder if Peter Thiel is that type who's gay not because he loves men, but because he hates women...

  • Ok but again, are they ports or did new content go into it? Did a whole new soundtrack and full orchestral recording go into your 60 Capcom games? There IS a labour difference between adding new/upscaling the content vs porting it to new hardware and calling it a day.

Saying "call it what you want" is pretty disrespectful to the people actually working on modernizing these games (I'm one of those people).

  • They aren't though? They're not ports, they're partial rebuilds of the games in Unity with native resolution support, new pixel art, full arrangement of most of the music, and huge QoL and gameplay improvements/modernization.

I'm not a huge fan of SqEnix's money grabbing (see: literally any of their FF gatcha content), but the Pixel remasters are one of the few that are actually worth it...at $50 for the whole bundle. Not $25/ remastered game.

  • Am I hallucinating, because there was definitely a bundle that had all 6 remasters that I got... for $50 in 2022 I wanna say? All 6 are in my library and there is no way I spent $25x6 (or whatever the price is, I know FF I and II are lower in price).

  • Me AND my cat live with my parents too!

Rent is too damn high, man.

  • ...I should go catch up on Chainsaw Man...

  • Shounen Jump is a great example. It works, it's readers find value in it enough to pay for subscriptions, and it clearly has some sort of profitability. A great model of what other manga magazines could do, but they refuse because most of them are run by dinosaurs and would rather cry "piracy is ruining our profits wah" when they DON'T EVEN HAVE A PRODUCT in the market to profit from!
