  • Unless I'm mistaken that's not a FOSS app and also contains many trackers. I'm not trying to be rude with this comment, I came to the F-Droid community to find FOSS apps that don't track their users.

  • Thank you. I clearly need to prioritize learning more about ports. I have had little time to try fixing this issue (hence why this comment is so late) but figured out it was VPN related. My phone's VPN was blocking connection. After enabling local network bypass another SMB entry appeared with the accurate IP, if required me to only enter my username and then it connected fine.

  • I used to like his content and still like Surveillance Report but Henry always talks about how Apple is so private and a good option for an OS ecosystem. It's closed source, it looks like they (Apple) push "privacy" so they can have a monopoly on the data, and are anti consumer in many ways. Now his push for Synology has been growing.

Seems like he takes the easy way out with privacy. I understand life is busy (as he mentions a lot) but in order to make positive change you have to believe in and follow values that give power to open source tech and not the giants who steal your data, monetize you, and are in bed with the government

  • I really enjoy the Gulikit King Kong Pro 2 (and would assume the 3 is better) because it all runs on firmware. No software to install, it just works as it should. Also works on Linux without fuss.

On its functionality side it has hall effect triggers and joysticks plus nice buttons.

  • You're welcome. I find Fedora to be much more up to date and refined than Ubuntu but also very stable still, at least the atomic variants as those are what I use. Also Ubuntu has all the controversy about trying to force their own packages at you as well as other things
