  • They don't need to come up with rules to stop data brokers, they need to come up with rules to block the collection of data in general so it can't get to data brokers or anyone else. Also a great framework to adapt already exists in the EU, so stop stalling. But who am I kidding, the US government doesn't really care.

  • Well put. I typically use 7digital and sometimes HDTracks. Bandcamp confused me but I need to give it another go.

Purchasing music also gives a much higher percentage of money to the artist compared to streaming platforms.

Retro Music is my favorite player for Android and Elisa for Linux (maybe Windows too).

  • I didn't know what nano.RIPE was and still don't really (maybe a musician or store), but I understand enough to know what he's saying now. I know not all music is available but quite a bit is (this was surprising to me). Maybe the outlying songs are left to pirating. That's a personal predicament.

  • On Droid-ify you can sort just by games but then filter the first stuff you see by recently updated. There's quite a few puzzle type games being actively maintained. Various types of crossword games, mine sweeper, chess, suduku, lexica, solitaire, 2048, Falling Blocks, a few tower defense games. You can also install an emulator (Lemuroid) and have them play old GBA games, etc.

  • In what ways do you mean? I don't know much about the creator side of things.

However if it has something to do with less ease of use for the creators then that's something that should be worth going through. By giving more value to other platforms then we can assume those platforms will make more and better changes for their influx of users. Similar to how people didn't want to leave Reddit for Lemmy. There isn't as much content and the apps and infrastructure aren't as good. Well, Lemmy development has taken off since the Reddit migration because of the value given to the platform.
