Pixelmator for macOS blows GIMP out of the water and is a one-time purchase of $50. I've used Photoshop a lot at school and Pixelmator does 99% the same.
I've found OnlyOffice (not to be confused with OpenOffice) is very compatible with Microsoft's Office document format. I can open and edit docx files created by other people with no problem.
No way. I don't want my clothes and computer covered in dog hair. I don't want my fingers licked. I don't want to smell dog breath or wet dog. I don't want to look at my coworker's dog taking a shit or peeing on the carpet, nor do I want to smell it.
Hmm okay. Maybe some sort of legal forum about Québec laws might have some more insight. And true, this will all cost money so depending on the donations it may not be worth it.
You could probably set up a LLC or trust with a post office box address and VOIP number, depending on where you live. Then set up a business account with PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, etc. This will provide some measure of privacy from random people who donate but of course legally you will still be connected.

Been using BTRFS for several years and have never once had any sort of issue. i just choose BTRFS at system setup and never think about it again. I like that when I copy a file it is INSTANT and makes my computer feel super fast, whereas EXT4 can take several minutes to copy large files. This is with similar use to what you describe. No RAID.
