  • It seems really time consuming still for not much gain. I mean I value public transit because I’ve always wanted to live in a big city with a metro, but bikes seem impractical with the weather, terrain etc. and I hate going for groceries, etc so don’t it more often along the way is a nightmare.

I just don’t think people have that kind of free time, because how many people can work ten minutes via bike from where they live?

  • The Problem is, the whole pedestrian and cyclist centric society only works of we also restructure the entire economic system to where workers have an extra hour and a half to two hours of free time outside of work. Because we already don’t have enough time for our families and children.

Like me for instance. I have like 3 waking hours to spend with my child (once you minus, cooking, cleaning, adulting) if I’m lucky each day. Driving to work is a highway exit away on the other side of town. With a car, that’s 6 minutes each way. On a bike? 40 minutes minimum. Public transit? With transfers, even longer.

And then you have to juggle picking up your child from childcare, etc with is ridiculous without a car. And living closer to your work is a funny idea unless you expect every neighborhood to have offices and warehouses representing every industry. I mean it sounds great for the upper middle class with shorter office jobs and the finances for that kind of lifestyle, but that’s just not feasible for real working class Americans in the economic system as it is currently

It’s for singles who can tralala themselves around on a bike or have a leisurely stroll to wherever they’re going and who don’t really cook or anything themselves.

  • Sucks because I prefer stack overflow in searches because I get more of a human explanation and wisdom. With llm i have to figure out what it’s_trying to do_ , debug it, and god forbid you want various ways of doing the same thing. I hate LLMs for coding. I hate clients for trying to force me to use it when most of the time now they admit they’re hiring me because AI failed in the first place

  • Well obviously that individual was mentally unwell. But the sentiment that one shouldn’t have a child by their own choice due to environmental circumstances by itself isn’t mentally unwell.

I don’t believe people should make that choice for others, but it shouldn’t be seem so abnormal if one does feel that way because, well, *gestures around wildly *

  • I don’t know if it’s mentally unwell to not want children or to question the sanity of having children in this current society or other such situation like the poverty 2/3rds the world experiences.

As a parent, I feel guilt for my child to have to put up with this bs, especially in the workforce that I have dealt with in the 21 years I’ve been working. This shit sucks, and I hate living in this capitalist society we’ve built. There’s no logical way to escape it and just live freely.

And I’m poor in America. It’s even worse being poor outside of America. I honestly think it’s mentally unwell to keep having children in those circumstances.

And let’s add some context before I get chewed out by the smiling happy NT people:

I am autistic. My son is autistic. Life is very difficult and stressful every day because society was not built in any way that fits us. We have priorities and needs that run completely opposite of American society, its economy, its structure. The toiling for ten hours, coming home in the same traffic, raising kids until night, getting an hour to yourself, then bed to just wake up and do it all again for 40 years just feels like death.

And who wants to be forced to subjected to that?

  • It’s entirely possible to answer. I answer this question all the time in my head because I don’t like living.

My answer is “I wouldn’t feel anything if I wasn’t conceived., because I wouldn’t exist and wouldn’t have feelings to feel. So it’s a non question.”

It’s my same answer to “what if your parents decided to abort you?” Asked by pro-lifers.

  • Pirating is getting so hard for me that it’s becoming not an option. Comcast has started blocking vpn nodes for me, but only of I am torrenting. And if I turn off the vpn, DMCA notices out the ass. I’m kinda stuck.
