  • It might be difficult as Israel has threatened the use of Nuclear weaponry in the past if the US were to stop their aid.

In the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Arab forces were overwhelming Israeli forces and Prime Minister Golda Meir authorized a nuclear alert and ordered 13 atomic bombs be readied for use by missiles and aircraft. The Israeli Ambassador informed President Nixon that "very serious conclusions" may occur if the United States did not airlift supplies. Nixon complied. This is seen by some commentators on the subject as the first threat of the use of the Samson Option.

  • My company started with full stack devs only and we've transitioned to specialized back end and front end since we realized that 1 specialized BE Engineer and 1 specialized FE Engineer can work faster with better quality than having 2 Full Stack Engineers.

  • I usually just do what they requested and when they come to complain I just tell them "well, you're the one who requested this" and pull up receipts. My DM to myself on Slack is filled with screenshots and links to confirmations for bullshit requests that the product team made.

  • That is an L take. Having a term limit helps increase the difficulty of making political dynasties. It doesn't make it impossible, but it sure is gonna make it harder for a certain person or group to solidify their power base.

  • Sell all of your assets and build a self-sufficient ranch on New Zealand. Looking at WW3 projections it's going to be one of the places untouched by a nuclear war and won't feel the effects of a nuclear winter as harsh as other places. Hmm, it looks like that the billionaires building their doomsday bunkers at New Zealand has the same idea.

  • Teams are just shit like that. Although my company has migrated to 365 for our work apps, the team's main communication is still Slack. With Slack I'm still able to find old messages easily and be able to link it in relevant context.

  • I understand their response with this. IIRC Indonesia is having the same problems with Ukrainians and Russians staying in Bali to avoid the war. The situation got so problematic the local government added Russian to their warning signs.

Although the Russians are more problematic since their banks got sanctioned and cannot use Visa networks so they're unable to pull any money from the ATMs and have resorted to taking local jobs and even panhandling there.

  • Isn't brake checking just pressing on your brakes slightly to turn on your braking lights but not engage braking? So you're not actually braking. I did it several times when someone's tailgating really close and it's pretty funny to see them immediately slow down. Usually after a couple of times of doing it they got the memo and increased their distance.

  • Pretty much. After I got married and started having kids I just want a PC setup that just works when I want to do anything on it. Without needing to troubleshoot some esoteric issue because apparently my motherboard is on a different revision version that changes the WiFi card to use some shit ass MediaTek card ONLY for that revision and now I can't use WiFi or Bluetooth and I need to troubleshoot the issue for hours.

  • I did the switch. Even if there's no PPP pricing for my region it's quite alright. I'm planning to migrate my whole family to Proton in the near future. We already have our chats with Signal and one other last thing is for media backup. We're still using a combination of Google Photos and OneDrive to save our photos. Are there any good privacy oriented data storage solutions? I'm also saving up money to spin up my own self-hosted solution.
