Eye icon - what does it do?

  • No worries, yea some of our memoization needs a little more work for appearance changes at the moment. I’m glad you got it working better!

  • No we can’t really do it. What if someone scrolls really fast, then we have to mark like let’s say 20 posts as read. Each mark as read is a separate API call. We can’t make a call with all the posts, the lemmy API isn’t that advanced. If we tried to make that many api calls it would get rate limited and you’d get errors from the backend.

  • That’s how we got the current one. If someone submits another icon and gk and i like it we will add it to the app, plain and simple. Nobody has done that though with the new direction we took it.

    Edit: we’ve also thought about creating a go fund me to help pay for a professional icon but don’t know how much traction that would get

  • Both icons have been done by community members for free. We aren’t paying for icons because well, we don’t make any money off of this. Other people are welcome to submit icon ideas and if gk and i like them we will add them to the app.
