  • Say, are you saying that it's possible to take an existing Mastodon post, and post it into Lemmy? If so can you pliz point me to someplace that says how to do that? So far I've only seen this guide: https://anonsys.net/display/bf69967c-1467-8270-7e3d-48d984455929 and it only says how to crosspost a new Mastodon post, not an existing Mastodon post.

  • The article seems well-written, except that:

the fediverse — the open social web powered by the protocol ActivityPub also used by Mastodon, Threads, Flipboard, and others.

Seriously? Flipboard has like one thousand Monthly Active Users and we have like 50 times that, but we're like "and others" lel... I guess they didn't mention Pixelfed either tho and it's a lot "hotter"...

  • depressed/self-loathing people dating each other is a really bad idea and results in shitty relationships and emotional turmoil

I see what you're getting at here... but sometimes instead it results in going to couples therapy and figuring out the roots of your problem and talking to a psychiatrist for medications, etc.

  • Eh... if this were written in high school it'd be promising. In college, not a bad first draft. In grad school, if this is the result of several revisions then you're definitely not top of the class.

  • I think what they're getting at is this is clearly a simple script doing template generation: (1) statement of praise (2) statement of encouragement/thanks (3) a couple emoji. The sentences that are used to populate the templates might be LLM-generated, but these aren't state-of-the-art neural network "AI"s.

  • From the title "Junior Video Editor" and your description of the salary you proposed it sounds like this is an entry-level job that'll probably go to someone fresh out of school.

It's hard to read too much into it because this might just be a form letter, but it sounds like they genuinely thought you were a good candidate but they were looking for a more junior position. Sometimes this is dictated by their budget available.

Even if this is a form letter, they probably have a letter for the case where the salary was OK but they never want to hear from the candidate again. So you didn't get that letter, at least!

It looks like this was a "near miss". It's discouraging, but keep at it, you can do it.

  • The big events of my Sunday were !superbowl@lemmy.world and Monsterdon. I consider this an absolute win. My cousin was telling me something about some halftime show but I was like huh?

Mixed feelings about Eurovision entries. I like seeing them without expectations. I had no warning that Kaarija's Cha Cha Cha or Go_A's SHUM were gonna be as epic as they are. I'll probably be on Mastodon when Eurovision's live.

Anyway, nothing's keeping you from the mainstream social media if that's where you'll find what you need. You're always welcome here!

  • Oh yeah good point! That ancient Mesopotamian nerd will also be like: "And they'll make up stories about talking ponies.... and they'll dress up like furry animals and have meetings together!" Oh, Mesopotamian nerd, you were born way too soon...
