We absolutly dropped the dot from the word in informal speak. Probably 2 days after owning one.. "matriseskrivar" was much easier than "punktmatriseskrivar"
Factorio. The most value for money i have gotten out of any game. Even more so then free games... the replayabillity is insane. Even before you add mods and multiplayer. I have 1500 hours just on the latest map..
Rimworld. When you need to rage quick factorio for a month, you sell the organs of your enemies for drugs. And you make clothes out of their skin. Hopefully in that order..
Without knowing the exact programs, you can only get general answers.
If there is no direct alternative program, you can change your workflow to use other programs. Or you can try to run those important programs in wine. Or i can run those in a terminal server, or via a windows vm. Or more lately many programs come in web versions that works for everyone.
I have used linux exclusivly on my daily driver for about 23ish years.i mostly work with the linux side of things. And the few windows things the company require i use web versions, or a windows vm.
Factorio and Rimworld have kept me entertained several thousand houers each. Hands down the best value for money on steam. Even beat out free to play games ;)
Have used linux almost exclusivly since 1999. Simply because it is the better system.
I use steam, since games just work without fiddeling, or a very easy refund.
Now I wonder what the gaming share of linux use would be. Probably very very small percentage. since the wast majority of linux installs are servers
