China has been trying to establish economic hegemony in Africa for a while via giant loans for infrastructure projects that the nations in question could never possibly repay. Of course, the terms of the loan establish that if the nation defaults, China immediately gains control over all assets built with the money.

Your experience is interesting, because where I am it absolutely is a shortage. Most stores are putting a limit of 1 dozen eggs per customer because it was getting so bad. The only place where I can reliably find eggs is the farmer's market and the organic store.

Depends on how seriously they take things like Trump, le Pen in France, and AfD. Not looking great so far, but hopefully we start seeing something soon.
