  • No. I'm saying that the US, an imperalist power which consistently spreads anti-Chinese propaganda, can't be trusted to tell the truth when it comes to China. So it's suspicious that several people on the board of that organization are former members of the US State Department

  • Oh jeez, did some brief research and that is awful. The person in charge of Retroarch seems to be a greedy asshole, doesn't properly credit other people's code, and there's direct IRC-logged evidence of abusive behavior towards emulator devs. Yikes. No wonder there are competing projects.

Time for me to never touch it again. I hear LaunchBox is a fine alternative but on my Switch I might just grab ARM builds of individual emulators; it would save time over the whole RA interface anyways.

  • Myths? Electric cars are not good for the environment, period, as their manufacture has huge impacts everywhere especially with lithium batteries.

The important thing that the conservatives miss is that all individual car transportation is horrible for the environment. Only public transit cuts emissions massively. That's why electric cars exist. They're not built to save the environment. They are built to save the car as a concept and means of individual transit. To keep consumers buying more cars and car parts rather than building and investing in public transportation.

What I find infuriating is how electric car makers lie in their advertising about how eco-friendly their vehicles are. They're not, and they know they're not, and they lie anyways because some people believe it.

  • Anyone who says paid software is guaranteed to be better is either selling you something or delusional.

FOSS has almost never disappointed me as an end user. Windows disappoints me every time I use it.

  • Extreme wealth absolutely is correlated with psychopaths. Nobody becomes ultrawealthy while keeping a conscience; to get that rich you have to step on other people. Unfortunately this phenomenon is not unique at all to the Saudi regime and I don't think their cruelty or violence are either; the ruling capitalists all across the world make decisions daily with the same outcomes.

Golf sucks. Personally I think it should die out. What a waste, all across the world, of good land and water.

  • American here and that is completely, 100 percent true.

Almost every piece of infrastructure built in the US in the past century is built around cars. Every American is expected to learn how to drive a car at age 16, as soon as legally possible. Except in very large cities like NYC, it is considered "strange" or "a significant inconvenience" to not own a car. For the vast majority of the country (both by land area and population) a car is required for commuting to work and almost anywhere else.

  • In seriousness, I have used Mint as a daily driver for probably 7 years now and I have found only the MATE and xfce flavors to be properly reliable and stable. Cinnamon, no matter how many times and on what hardware I've tried it, has a lovely habit of crashing and freezing at random times. For normal desktop tasks, Linux Mint xfce has been more reliable than any Windows I've ever used.
