  • the flipper wouldn’t be the only thing able to exploit it

No, and I never once thought these capabilities were unique to the Flipper. My concern is how much it lowers the barrier of entry to potentially dangerous behavior. When people say they got one “just to be evil”, it’s deeply concerning. If someone said the same thing about a gun, something else that can be dangerous and needs to be handled responsibly, I’d be notifying someone. It’s not the capabilities themselves, it’s how accessible it makes those capabilities to the otherwise-inept

  • I can put an RTC in an Arduino for about $8. It keeps time accurately. If it gets out of sync, maybe a Bluetooth connection to let it do an NTP request through another device.

    Cellular connectivity is not required.

  • Cool. The materials are there. It’s sand. Few other things, sure, but we have fuckloads of sand.

The limiting factor for chip production isn’t the raw materials, it’s that there’s only a handful of facilities in the world that can actually do it. Part of why there’s been such a push to build more facilities is that China really want to reincorporate Taiwan, where most of those facilities are based.

  • My girlfriend has a medical implant for her gastroparresis. How concerned should we be? If that device shuts off, she can’t eat, and there’s only a handful of doctors in the country that can work on it, and the one that sees her is often booked two weeks out

  • Absolutely. If you really want the “year of the Linux desktop”, the Linux community needs to start meeting people where they are, or atleast halfway between where they are and where Linux users are.

  • It’s called Human Resources because the humans are the resource. They’re not there for you, they’re there to find which resources are going to cause problems for the company. Failure to understand this is failure to understand you and your company have opposing goals.

  • In that case, first place I’d look is on EBay to find ‘Books being sold for parts. You’re not going to have a lot of luck getting an OEM keyboard.

As far as where we got most of our parts from, we usually went to MobileSentrix or MobileDefenders. They stock parts for a lot of phones, even replacement displays for iPhones, Surfaces, and Switch. However, I don’t recall if they require some sort of business account.
