  • There's definitely an opportunity for someone to run their own curation service for personalized feeds based on a user's activity on other social networks.

I tend to just check All periodically for the first couple of months and follow tags and people that suit my own interests and build my own feed from zero. But that takes effort and time, and for folks who want an option further toward the convenience end of the privacy/convenience spectrum I suspect it would be a fairly popular option.

  • I will give bluesky credit for their focus on moderation. Hopefully some of that design is cloned by the Mastodon folks sooner than later

  • Leaving one privately run garden for another sure seems like a choice 🤔

  • I've always had to sign my vote by mail ballot envelope in CA. They keep a signature on file from when you last registered to absentee (not vote at your polling place) vote and compare the two to see if someone else is trying to vote in your name.

  • Time. Imagine not just you disappearing but all humans. Given enough time absolutely nothing lasts.

  • No bailouts without an equivalent equity transfer to the public. If you want a bailout you need to grant the same amount of stock to the government in exchange.

  • I mean, yeah, it's a drop ship front designed to be a money laundering pipe for foreign agents to send money to a Trump business. The product doesn't actually matter.

  • Quick, someone run a Kickstarter for leatherette bound "Bibles" that meet the criteria and unfold into a doormat

  • The more you look into it the better it gets. It's basically a drop ship scam run out of a random office in Wyoming (? IIRC) where the only other registered business sells honey to treat erectile dysfunction.

  • And the cost of time spent commuting 2-3h each way to and from work every day

  • Wait until you hear about the $100k concepts of a watch they're selling worldwide for cash OR bitcoin. It's basically tailor made to allow foreign agents to send money to trump anonymously.

  • It's possible to go after both. M$ has some fucked up practices that trick the user into using edge that shouldn't be okay

  • I recently had to explain to my boomer mom why a Ring doorbell was a bad idea. She didn't seem to get that the system is cheap because it's constantly feeding whatever it sees to both Ring and your local cops.

  • Glassholes was coined back when Google was working on Google Glass about 10-12y ago and people kept theirs on and recording while in public

  • Welp, guess it's time for IR reflective tattoos to defeat facial recognition

  • Japanese Amazon is popular with people who want to import goods directly from Japan so I'd say this isn't a universal thing
