  • They're phasing it out, manifest v2. Blue green testing, at some point you will be forced out as well.

  • Spot on. We all have our own demons. It's up to us to overcome them and make a life for ourselves. Life is not fair, some get it better, so e have it worse, but it's for each of us to conquer ourselves

Life is learning that no one looks out for you, no one is going to swoop in and make it easy. Nobody wants to go to work, but we all do anyway. I'd love to take a year off, but then I'd probably go homeless, so I don't. I can wish it all I want, but it isn't going to happen.

So, I could be resentful that others may have it easier, or I can enjoy my days off how I want and put in my time as I go. C'est la vie.

  • Yeah strong disagree with this meme. 15 years into my career and everything gets a data type.

The only engineers I know who still don't like strong types are engineers who haven't lost a weekend due to a stupid type issue. Once you have one or a few of those, you start to like types again.

  • I am the exact same way. Good on you for acknowledging it and recognizing it. I love romcoms, Jane Austen movies are some of my favorites, and ffs I literally made and mod the Taylor Swift community here. I'm very straight, but also in touch with my own emotions. All of masculinity says that I would never find a woman and that I'm doing everything wrong.

Except I've been married and ina committed relationship for well over a decade now. My wife loves that I'm open with who I am. (I took her to the Eras tour!).

Toxic males are sexist in many ways, but one is that they think of women as single thinking people. That women want hot guys with fast cars, and that you'll never get one without. That's like saying that all men like playing dnd, or all men want to drive a big truck. It's asinine. There are over 4 billion women on this planet, and a good many of them do not care what kind of truck you have. In fact, most of them would think you wasted your money on it.

  • Fully agree. It's just not sanitary either, and I know everyone will assume I mean their dog is dirty. I mean that any animal brings unknown elements into a place that makes food. One good shake of a wet dog and you have dirt and debris flying around people eating, and you're exactly right things like that may affect others way more even if it doesn't affect you.

I'm okay with dogs in places like breweries, it's still a risk but as long as there is plenty of space it's probably fine. Food though adds a whole other element that I don't think they belong in.

  • Data science. CS is going to be programming and learning about things like registers and ram allocation. Data science sounds more like what you're describing

  • I wish, but check their comments. They're just here to argue

  • 99% likelihood of a troll people, downvote and move along

  • I had a similar but in reverse. I was at the bar with some coworkers, 4 of them or so, and they were all bitching about their wives. They turned to me and I didn't have anything. I literally made something up, I was so on the spot. They laughed and the conversation moved on. It hit me though because it was like this cannot be healthy, is this what you actually think?

10 years later, 3 of them are divorced.

  • Hashtags aren't discoverable though, server A still needs to subscribe to at least one user from server B before hash tags will start

  • You got an audible chuckle from me on that one

  • Docker compose in git. Env in 1password or whatever password manager you use. Most support uploading a raw file.

  • Well if anyone knows what 8 year olds want it's large corporations. Case closed folks.

  • Very very unfortunately, Pixelfed doesn't have a way to just start exploring feeds without knowing exactly who to look at. This has been a very longstanding problem with the platform that the engineer has pretty much outright refused to do. Pixelfed-Glitch is attempting to add in better discovery options, but for now it's a non-starter for me. I turned off my pixelfed server because of the lack of discovery.

  • Yeah we learned last year that half of this fucking country runs on pure hate for anyone who isn't exactly like them, and even then they'll find reasons to hate them too. They're suffering but other people suffering worse actually makes them feel better. Then they're shocked and appalled when their Walmart trip gets more expensive and their response to it is that other people should still be hurt more.

They have no empathy. They do not have the capability to think about anyone other than themselves, and it shows daily.

  • Ah floating point math. Works fine for 90% of use cases, until it doesn't.

  • I got the Hyundai Kona to be a simple small barebones EV and it has done that. It's going to have the same bells and whistles most people expect, but I did also get a physical key with it.

Had it just over a year now and love it. It's a great car
