The major things I see on Lemmy are

Yeah, op didn't say you couldn't opt out of it. It's that they're doing it at all. Every year they ask for a little bit more info, chipping away, making it harder and more obscure to opt out. That's enshittification.

I bought a Plex pass for 90 or something. I officially dropped Plex about 4 months ago now. For 90 bucks I got something like 8 years out of it. I'll call that a win, I don't feel like I wasted my money, I don't feel like I overpayed. Just moving on now.

No, still "perfect" for llms. There's nuance, seeing patterns being used, it should be able to handle it perfectly. Enough people on stack overflow asked enough questions, if AI is like Google and Microsoft claim it is, it should have handled it

Look, I'm honestly the same way. I'm bad with kids, I don't do well around them, and to me they're annoying. I'm the same way, my friends before and after kids are two separate people. Everyone says "that is what life does though", well, yeah, but I liked my friends.

So for you, it sounds like it already happened but you just need to decide if they're still friends. There's exactly 2 that I stayed friends with after they had kids, and it's because I don't want to lose their friendship and also they have very polite kids.

So, you're not an asshole for not wanting to see them. However, you also need to acknowledge they're not the same person with kids, and they aren't going to just ignore their kids to be friends with you. Expecting that is asshole behavior. Just get friends without kids

I've personally never cared too much. It's what it costs to have society. I agree with others where I don't like half of it going to the military, but other than that I view it as a good thing. I'm doing okay, I can afford to help others get by a bit. I also get benefits, I get our local transit, we get roads, I like fire departments, parks, walkways, it's just paying my share so I get to enjoy those things. And if for some reason I wasn't doing okay, I would feel okay using those safety nets too
