  • Once you have figured it out, it's actually a nice workflow. Don't get me wrong, when I'm not publishing a paper, I quickly forget all commands, my whole setup etc. and start from scratch, cursing a lot and retracing my steps in the history, basically re-learning the framework. I'd still never move away from ggplot2.

  • They would still have to go to the club though, and generate the interest / intent by themselves.

I think the service provided should be more like a PA: they call you Friday at 5pm, ask what you're doing, suggest a couple of activities, and once there, actually make an effort to introduce you to people, suggest common activities, take care of the first hour of awkward conversation so people can get to know each other etc.

$5 says this already exists in Japan.

  • I don't know what your previous setup was, but given that running resolved fixes your DNS issues, run:

    ln -sf ../run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf

This will point programs that use /etc/resolved.conf during DNS resolution to the local DNS server provided by systemd-resolved.

Then, enable resolved so that it is started when you reboot:

    systemctl enable systemd-resolved.service

Finally, start the service so that it is available immediately:

    systemctl start systemd-resolved.service

You will want it run those with the required permissions, e. g. via sudo.

  • Have you considered creating a macro in any image editor that supports macros and assigning that to a button / keyboard shortcut?

gimp certainly has macros and scripting features. Maybe this will help: https://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Automate_Editing_in_GIMP/

You can still edit a mask / selection with the regular UI, then trigger the cut/merge process you desire based on that selection.

  • Honestly, the best picture is big guy morgunkorn hunched over airbrushing pastries, doing what he loves.

Cakes look amazing, I might need to pick up another hobby. Great job my dude.

  • Yeah, I get it. The first few days of medication were incredibly eye-opening, and I had taken a shitload of stimulants before, mind you.

It felt like somebody had flipped the switch for the 5 billion whispers that were constantly talking in the background. It was honestly shocking. That was how neurotypical people experience life?

Now, the downside: I actually started to miss those whispers. They were my voice, after all, and they were not only distractions, but also my emotions, my creativity, my wit, my charm. It's not that those things are all gone, but they are certainly subdued, muted.

So, whenever circumstances allow me to, I like to go back to my old, unmedicated self.

  • Just for reference: the nail polish is supposed to create a random, near-impossible to replicate pattern using the metal flakes inside that get randomly distributed during application. You're supposed to take a picture of the blob after it has dried and keep that at home for comparison - the nail polish is not a miracle replacement for e. g. Loctite that will make it impossible to undo the screws.

  • I have no idea about the current state of AI tools, in particular I know absolutely nothing about the plethora of models people self-host and run.

Is this completely generative, or AI face swapped? What tools were used in the creation?

  • I do in fact use unrefined, brown cane sugar, although I have not tried panela specifically.

The one I use pretty much looks like this:

It's an organic fair trade brand, but I'd have to look up where it is imported from.

As I said, I can't imagine making it with any other kind of sugar any more. Sorghum seems like an interesting idea, might have to experiment with that.

  • The key to amazing banana bread is to make it with soft, brown sugar. The stuff that is clumpy, glistening with moisture, reminiscent of molasses. It adds so much to the flavor. And actual nuts, of course.
