  • On the billions of acres no longer needed to grow animal feed for a small minority of global calories and protein.

You're trying to pretend meat isn't over and order of magnitude less efficient than other agriculture and it's just making you look foolish.

  • If the entire world turned vegan would it make a difference?

...yes. Plainly and obviously. Most land use would be gone overnight. Deforestation would stop immediately as would the second largest source of methane, one of the largest sources of NO2, and billions of tonnes of CO2 per year (about a quarter of all emissions). No other single initiative other than maybe ending urban driving would come close.

If you're in the global top 50% there is absolutely nothing stopping you from switching to a primarily plant based diet, and if you're in the bottom 50% you probably don't eat enough meat to be a major impact.

  • The overwhelming majority of charging happens at home and brazil's grid is perfect for overnight charging as it's wind and hydro heavy. What little happens at charging stations will be battery backed starting in the next year or so for purely economic reasons.

The idea that car charging is an insurmountable peak load is pure fiction.

  • No idea if China is better but western academia requires spending 95% of your time playing politics/begging for funding and pays worse than fast food for the first decade or so whilst requiring you to go into debt you will never pay off while everyone around you not-in-academia accuses you of being a woke coastal elite, grooming children, and spreading lies about poor defenseless shell and chevron for profit.

  • A government that intervenes to stop a strike on the side of a monopoly corporation because the workers are vital to the economy is not left wing. Rainbow corporatocracy is still corporatocracy and your attempt to erase 3/4ths of the political spectrum by charwcterizing neoliberalism as "left" is laughable.

  • You need a temperature gradient to extract energy.

The water is still cooler than the atmosphere just less than usual.

It would be a few degrees warmer than deep ocean water, so you could maybe power one of those toy stirling engines with a heat sink near the surface and one deep down, but the amount of usable energy per m^2 would be milliwatts at best.
