  • I once sat next to a couple on the plane and the young woman was showing her bf a video of Tate talking about how men should be stoic and never complain because no one wants to hear that pussy bullshit. She was saying things to him like “You know how you freak out and bitch at me? You should be like him.”

So yeah… there are women out there who like him. They like hardcore traditional gender roles, is probably the base of it, and want a man doing cliche man shit like Tate preaches. Some women are dealt a great hand by traditional standards: big tits, blond hair, nice face, and they would rather settle into being provided for than fuss with all that feminism stuff. It’s idiotic but people believe whatever’s in their interests. And surprise surprise, these women don’t want men to have emotional needs.

  • In the old days when you disappeared into a cult, you physically went to live with them and everything.

These days it’s “cult to go.” Good luck intervening and cutting off their link to the cult when the cult is speaking to them from their pocket.

  • The biggest problem I see is that people don’t always understand others’ jobs and how to judge if they are doing them well. I know this will be unpopular but managers are the key example here. Everyone thinks they know who the good and bad managers are but until you’ve been one, you dont understand their job to truly know more than who you like and who you don’t like. That’s no way to decide anyone’s pay.

  • This kind of headline always makes it sound like AI is being used as judge, jury, and executioner. But it’s more likely that it’s part of narrowing the field or generating candidates.

I’m reminded of another headline recently about how AI is now going to be used at a nuclear reactor. Everyone assumed this meant that ChatGPT would henceforth operate the entire reactor including having the ability to cause meltdowns. It turned out to be that the employees were getting an AI powered document search for their office that would help them search regulatory and technical documents.

We need to remain skeptical of AI, but this hardon for Skynet everywhere is not actually helping with that. That’s more emotional catharsis, 2-minutes hate, than effective skepticism.

  • We see a lot of similar headlines from anthropology. One artifact overthrows the entire known timeline. I’m far from educated on these topics and maybe the articles are just sensationalizing it all, but these always rub me the wrong way. It seems like a very tiny number of data points to work with and whole fields of understanding flipping around a lot. Is this the best we can do?

  • No one cares when you bought. You’re supposed to flood the used Tesla market to suppress new sales happening NOW.

I’ve heard a lot of excuses from Tesla drivers about how they can’t afford to stand for their ethics. It’s pathetic. How are we to believe this from anyone who could afford one in the first place?

Plot yourself on the historical spectrum of “what was I willing to give up for my ideals” and that brave moral stand about not having a car payment looks pretty fucking limp.

I have empathy for you. I’m just more concerns with your soul than your car payment.

  • They will definitely not appoint an even more progressive pope after him. He was “the progressive pope” for a time and now they will shift gears in the other direction for a time. The Catholic Church is not on some steady progressive march. Especially the way politics are going around the world, you can expect a very anti-woke pope next.

  • I’m finally reading The Expanse books and in the opening pages of the first book there’s a joke about how a freshly implanted prosthetic arm doesn’t quite feel like yours until you get used to it, and in that interim you can jerk off and it will feel like a hand job. And the book goes from there.

  • If they also consume it over the border, sure.

If they bring it back, they are importing it and that’s when you have to pay the tariff. If you’re thinking “just keep it in your trunk how will anyone know?” just consider how long smuggling has been a thing and ask yourself if you think border guards have thought of this. They have.

  • Social media is definitely a big thing, even if it’s not the only thing.

I believe it has two parts. The technology can personalize content and optimize for engagement, so it’s more addicting than traditional media could ever be.

And the jackasses making content have no accountability or editorial standards whatsoever. They churn out whatever clicks and they’re willing to lie, incite, and gaslight their way through it.

Combine the low content standards with the high addiction factor and you have a ticking time bomb. Or maybe it already went off and we’re just looking around at the crater left behind.
