  • Its just a phrase, I never implied this has anything to do with law. "Guilty" and "innocent" are not purely legal terms. You said you can assume they are real. If you are going to assume anything, you should have evidence. I'm not assuming anything, I don't need evidence. You are assuming they are real, you need evidence. There is no evidence either way, as I have already said, and you ignored. So your assumption is baseless. I can't break it down any further for you. My original argument was that the messages could be fake, yes. But that doesn't mean I have to provide evidence. If there was evidence I wouldn't say "could". I was literally saying I don't know, and it is impossible to know. But its stupid to assume its real when you can't possibly know, just based off of your views of him in general.

  • Not every truck has been in use for a year. I know most of the time you can tell the difference, but it seems like a bad idea to make assumptions based off of something like that. If you're a truck owner are you just supposed to live with people thinking you're an asshole if you recently got a new truck. I would rather take the extra few seconds to ask than put them in that position.

  • So guilty until proven innocent? I shouldn't have to tell you how backwards and nonsensical that is. What evidence that they are fake are you looking for exactly? How is that supposed to be proven? The point is that it can't be proven either way. So maybe don't make any career-ending assumptions based off of only that.

  • What if they washed it? Obviously most of the time you will be right, but from the perspective of a truck owner, that means they have to keep their truck dirty or people will assume they're an asshole. You could avoid the problem altogether by not assuming that at all.

  • They are still useful in some situations although they are almost always just a fashion statement. https://lemmy.ml/comment/1660615 Someone who actually needs one for their job commented on this post and explained why. Someone also replied and said they could haul more with a van, and their response was that they can easily drop things into the bed with a crane. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

edit: they deleted it, not sure why but the point stands

  • I actually only speak proto indo European because evolution of language is bad and wrong. If your true crime video said "deprived of life", it would sound even worse. Goofy is better than pretentious. "slay" would probably also get you demonetized because its a well known and more mature synonym of kill. The entire point is to make a new word, so YouTube doesn't have a chance to ban it.

  • It can come off like you are disregarding their opinion entirely, or at least devaluing it and focusing on something seemingly small and inconsequential instead. The phrase is to clarify that's not your intention. You don't have to write a strangely vindictive rant, its not that deep dude.

  • If they can figure out email, they can figure out this. I think the problem is more that the average person isn't looking for alternative social media. Even if they are, they will probably ignore Lemmy because of its small userbase.

  • It also means more people will actually use it, so its kind of a double edged sword I guess; but its heartbreaking seeing a generation that is supposed to be tech savvy only be able to understand social media ui and the settings app on their iPad.
