The two most important things missing from Linux are mass familiarity and certain important professional software suites. It isn't that Linux doesn't have software nearly-equivalent to things like the Adobe suite, MS Office, and AutoCAD. It is that it doesn't have those EXACT applications. Like it or not, in a professional setting, you usually have to use the big proprietary applications because that's what everyone else uses. Using standard software reduces compatibility and training headaches, and eases recruitment. Most technically-oriented professionals wouldn't even take a job that disallowed them from accessing and maintaining their competence with the standard software of their profession.

NATO is a defensive alliance. It is specifically designed to prevent a repeat of WW1. Nor will it support military adventurism. For example, the US could invoke Article 5 after 9/11 because the US was attacked on its own territory. The US could not invoke Article 5 when its troops were attacked in Iraq or when it liberated Kuwait. The French cannot invoke Article 5 when it's troops are attacked in the Magreb. There are also geographic boundaries. The British could not invoke Article 5 when the Falklands were attacked, even though it is British territory, because it is too far south. The French could not invoke Article 5 when it was attacked in Indochina because that was too far east.

Even when a NATO country is attacked on its own territory, it can't have initiated hostilities. For example, Poland can't attack Russian territory, thereby declaring war on Russia, and then invoke Article 5 and expect the rest of NATO to jump in. NATO is purely defensive and voluntary. It was designed mainly to prevent a Soviet invasion of the rest of Europe that wasn't already behind the Iron Curtain, while also preventing any ally from drawing the rest into a war that could lead to nuclear annihilation. It cannot be "gamed" or misused to draw allies into a war.

We had a crazy Christian in our office. He was 100% all-in on the prophetic books like Ezekiel and Revelations. He would go on and on about how all the current events in the Middle East, Russia, and the Caucasus were prophesied back in biblical times, and that the Rapture would happen any time now. He literally told me that if he didn't show up for work for a few days it was probably because he'd been Raptured up to heaven, and that's how we will know that the end times are upon us. Our previous CEO was also of the crazy Christian persuasion. He wasn't as loud as Rapture-boy, but definitely into Christian prophesy and numerology and applying it to current events with an eye on the end times. And I don't even live in a bible belt. This is not as uncommon as you would think.

Trump is a chauvinist. If Trump picks a woman as a running mate, it'll be Kristi Noem. She's got the look he likes. MTG would need a lot of plastic surgery before Trump would pick her for VP.

That's frustrating. I'm no expert, but since there are no other responses and I've had my fair share of problems to solve, maybe check:

1. Is Secure Boot disabled in your BIOS?
2. Does your image have the right permissions? Give it chmod 777 and see if it boots.
3. I think you said you re-installed your host OS. Try installing an older version to see if it will boot your image.

I have also had VMs that hang on boot-up while running a core at 100%. I use Proxmox as my host, and was always able to enter the console for the VM and observe it going through the boot sequence. When it hung as you have described, it was because of some error that I could correct in the console. So, maybe check if your host allows you to interact with the VM while it's booting.

Your sarcasm is not appreciated, but yes, Haiti was created by European colonialism. No one is defending that. The answer isn't more European colonialism. Western nations can provide the money to help, but some other nation that is more culturally similar needs to provide the boots on the ground. Do you have a better idea, Captain Sarcastic? Remember that the comment I was responding to asked why the US isn't sending peacekeepers.

Like so many idiomatic expressions, "toe the line" has nautical origins. It meant to put your toes on a plank or line drawn on the deck, usually for disciplinary purposes. In other words, "toe the line" means to show willing conformity with the requirements of an authority.

Also, there are many lines on a boat, but only a few ropes, and the tow rope is one of them. No well-drilled sailor would ever call a tow rope a "tow line", unless he wanted to meet the captain's daughter!

You're only comparing Biden to Bilbo because they both look old. That's shallow. If Trump is Sauron in the analogy, which is how I set it up, then Biden is at least as strong and important as Aragorn. More so, really.

Frodo and Sam made it to Mount Doom because they moved in secret and carried the one thing that could kill Trump, I mean Sauron, without direct confrontation. Like it or not, in this analogy, Biden is our Aragorn. Come to think of it, they are about the same age! If there is a Frodo secretly making his way to Mount Doom with Putin's kompromat, I mean the One Ring, we don't know about it yet.
