How do you feel about the progress that Home Assistant has seen while you've been using it? And looking at the climbing adoption, you must feel like a proud parent?

How is it so snappy?

Is it that good?

Just out of curiosity, if you could recommend a phone to a relative. Let's say young enough to be on all the socials, but old enough to not need the newest flagship, what would you recommend? I'm guessing the 7 or 7a?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I just remembered seeing this the other day, so did a search for Zigbee Water Valve and this came up.

There's matter over WiFi and Matter over Thread, I've not heard of matter over Zigbee. The reason I mention it is because Matter is just how the things talk to each other, not how they talk to each other. Think like Spanish, over the Phone. Spanish being Matter. Your Sky Connect can already listen for via WiFi.

From all I've watched, Matter is still very rare and prone to dropouts.

With an extender, it's essentially a second coordinator. But it's worth mentioning that a good Zigbee network is full of routing devices, so your network should be pretty far reaching anyway.

If the button you want to set up is far away from everything else, then WiFi or Bluetooth are definitely worth considering, because it is better to change batteries more often than be forced to add a bunch of devices to get one to work.

Can you not add a Zigbee extender?

Even if it can't be proven that some of the problems were stock Ubuntu's fault, I would still like to blame Ubuntu because they do some really dodgy things. Like the second dock 😒 it seems so trivial, but why wouldn't they remove the old dock first. Decisions like that tell me other things won't be right

It's funny because I always thought I would go full unixporn and when I finally got to Linux, I was so happy with how it looked, I never got around to looking into things like Sway properly.
