College towns aren't even changing. Republicans are sprinting towards christian nationalist fascism and the people with any exposure to people slightly different than themselves (like near college towns) aren't falling for the lies perpetuated by rightwing social media and fox news.
Bro, keep eating good fibre and you'll never know. People do this because they're blind to the consequences of their shitty diet. Every sodie and highly processed white flour hamburger bun provides them with copious energy and almost zero fiber.

I've used Manjaro (stable) on my desktop for about 5 years and have no reason to leave. Updates are about once a month, other than security patches to browsers that for zero-days. It's still arch at it's core, but it's less upkeep.
Maybe I don't know what I'm missing, but I feel like I'm in a pretty similar situation as you.

I got on facebook to meet girls at university, not to keep up with family. I slowly got off facebook when my friends from university quit posting anything useful.
My other sort of anonymous social media stuff was on reddit and now Lemmy.

They are hemorrhaging users and replacing the missing activity with bots, but the new bots don't buy gold, so rather than show a month-over-month loss in that revenue stream in their IPO docs, they just cancelled reddit gold.
