  • Oh you know I honestly didn't notice there was text in the post body, I just clicked the link. Sorry!

  • Post title is identical to the article title, which is usually good practice.

  • Hey I'm super glad to hear you're making a positive change. Quitting is tough, and it can be a long road. One day at a time. Congrats on your progress so far, I also believe you can do it!

  • It's not a generative model running on your graphics card coming up with novel speech to match the gamestate; it would never be fast enough (and you're also using that card to, you know, run the graphics). They're using machine learning to generate speech for their pre-written lines so that they can avoid hiring voice actors. I guess they didn't want to try the old way of having whoever isn't too busy in your office record the lines.

  • Dropping from 3 packs a day to 2 is great progress, IMO? I'd congratulate someone on that.

  • Damn that sucks, I'm sorry that happened! Typos on dosages are hella dangerous.

  • For sure, it would certainly be clearer to say "the large charged lemonade has about the same amount of caffeine as four cups of coffee."

I also just saw that a cup of coffee is less than 1 cup, so maybe it's actually closer to five cups of coffee. Either way, I agree they could have made the comparison more explicit.

Talking about heavily-caffeinated beverages reminds me of the time I tried to order a venti nitro cold brew at Starbucks, and the guy actually told me "I'm not supposed to sell you the nitro in venti, actually..." But I must have looked like I needed it, because he looked around to make sure his manager wasn't watching, poured me a venti, and rang it up as a grande!

  • I think it's "as much" per fluid ounce. A cup of coffee is like 8 ounces, so the 30 ounce large lemonade is like almost 4 cups of coffee, which is in the right ballpark.

Since the lemonade comes in two sizes, this is the only way the comparison makes sense.

  • There was a good bit of story in 76, though? I quite liked the storyline where you take up the mantle of a radio drama heroine after finding out what happened to the previous holders of the title and breaking into their secret lair.

Or, I dunno, does it not count as story because most of the important events have already happened? Maybe it's "lore." I had a good time with it, anyway.

  • Doesn't that gun not engage the electronic firing mechanism if you don't authenticate via fingerprint? Or am I thinking of a different one?

  • How does a rapist have these kinds of supporters? I'm not sure I could get one person to scuffle with a police officer if I were arrested for jaywalking! How does this piece of shit have his whole school willing to risk arrest for him?

  • How many years after the culling are we thinking they "found" him? Because even if you take off 10 years, he looked astonishingly good for 21!

Even if they're a few years off, he lived to be ancient.

  • We have only recently (in terms of the length of history) entered an era where we can produce weapons capable of eliminating our own entire species. Wouldn't it be weird if we weren't thinking about that?

  • According to the article, it didn't, but they didn't know that when they bought the ferret. The particles weren't making it through and they didn't know why, so they employed a ferret to explore the tube. When she made it around, they knew there was no obstruction, and realized they had a different problem.

  • Whenever a news site says "firebrand" I hear "public figure with anger issues."

  • I like the article's optimism that things that contradict the new canon will eventually get worked out. The last time I played, characters still had voice lines referencing summoners years after summoners (and the entire concept of the League) had been written out of the lore.

  • Depends on driver behavior where you live, I think. I have zero confidence in marked pedestrian crossings, and expect everyone to take these kinds of ramps as fast as they possibly can, possibly while texting.

  • Mostly SMS, but I have one friend who uses Whatsapp. I have Signal installed but wasn't able to convince anyone else to switch.

  • Why does the word "phenomenon" make you think that they think there's no valid reason? All phenomena happen for reasons; it just means "a thing that happens."

  • I would ask if I'm getting royalties from this episode, and if the answer was no I would walk out.
